She gave birth 4 months ago. We have a £5-7 limit on pressies. She's quite girly - likes make-up, trashy magazines, hair cuts, massages...

I'm absolutely at a loss!

something for her, not the baby!
Accesories are good just observe her colour scheme.
here are some ideas:
1.vintage head scarf to match the colour of her eyes/frequently worn accessories. Those very long glittery shiney ones are so cute!
2. a big chunky bangle.
3. big fat belt.
4. a phone accessory
5. an alice band with sparkley bits in it.
Or smellies;
1. Bath Bomb/Bubble bath
2. Body Butter

Since I am in the U.S. I don't really understand your limit on money, but since she just had a baby I would say something that focuses no her and gives her a break, honestly a lunch with you and no kids may do the trick, it will give her a break and some girl time, good luck and merry Christmas!

Anyone can use gift certificates. Find out where she likes to shop or eat. Offer her a night out and babysit for her - make the offers into cut-out coupons you decorate and do yourself. Crafty. She will appreciate the break.
