If my boyfriend of 5 years didn't physically and verbally abuse the woman before me (also long term relationship of 5 years), but abuses me and says that he will make sure he doesn't do this to the next woman, how do I swallow that? Many people remind me that it's not my fault that I'm being abused, but if I'm the only he's abused, what does that mean?

if he really loved you, he wouldn't be treating you that way. there is always a way to resolve things without getting physical. he didn't do it to his other girlfriend, so why should he be doing it to you? he doesn't deserve to be in a relationship until he learns how to respect you more. you deserve better also
