Build those legs by running everyday! Climbing and running are a very challenging part of Marine Corps basic training, even more so that upper body training. Don't ignore upper body training, but there seems to be a lot more emphasis on stamina having to do with the lower body.

There is a book published by a former drill sargent that I use to have. It states desired objectives and how to get there. Essentially the minimum standards for running, situps and push ups is outlined depending on age and gender.

I recall 3 miles in 27 minutes for a man 25-40.

Run, run, and run some more.
Beyond that work on your abs (need 50 crunches in 2 minutes to pass PFT) alot and hit the pushups because you'll be doing alot of them.

I would also suggest working on the flexed-arm hang (if female) or pull ups (male). Don't worry too much about the arm hang, in my years of service I rarely, if ever, saw a woman fail, need 15 seconds to pass. Most of the women scored perfect, 70 seconds.

Overall, the better shape you're in, the better off you'll be.
I can give you a breakdown of a daily PT regimen if you would like, email me at okimar99@yahoo and I'll send you a better overview.

You need to work on stamina, run, run & then run some more, til you drop! Then incline runs are good too, as this is part of training in Boot Camp.... Work out those tri & bi-ceps, and definitely your abs... As you will also need them to be strenthened for Boot Camp.. Theres no muscle untouched. Train your brain to zone... not sure what that means, but, my brother said he did that alot while he went through Boot Camp.

You don't need anything extreme- just run a lot (try to run at least 2 miles a day), do pull-ups, and in my day, it was sit-ups, but I guess now, it's "crunches", so do a lot of those. Build up your upper body, too, since you'll need strength to run the obstacle course. Good luck.

Nothing extreme is necessary. Run. Run. Run. Run. Do some pullups, then Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Then do some situps. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Run. Repeat the process until you leave for bootcamp.
