This is probably a really lame question, but how many hours before flight time is best to get to the airport these days? Its been a little while since I've flown, by myself especially, and I don't want to be late and rushing or TOO early either.

I'm flying out of LAX on Friday, December 1st, and the departure time is 6:35pm. What do you recommend? Thanks.

4 hours is great but not less than 2.

You should come to the airport 2-4 hours before departure. For example if you come in the morning then you should go to a restaurant to eat breakfast then come back at the airport and you still have some time to spare before the departure.

Hi ,
I would recommend 2.5-3 hours if it's an international flight & 2 hr. if it is a docmectic one. For one, it gives you enough time to go through check-in without any hurry & possibly get a seat you would like (like a window or aisle) and solve any other issues that may come up during the check-in. For two, you would have enough time to go through security without getting nervous that you may be late for your flight.
Happy travelling.

i always ARRIVED at the airport at least 2 hours before the departure. i had no problems with that. well, of course, and add up the time it takes to drive to the airport so that you will know exactly when to leave your home.
uh.. if possible, can you add more details? like international flight? time of home to the airport? then i'll kno exactly what to tell you

Two to three hours would be wise. Normally the gate is open one hour prior the departure. Remember you have to go through security check which can take a while.

Most airlines are recommending two hrs before flight for check in and getting through security and if there's any problems that might come up when you check in

Depends on if you can go to the airlines website and print your boarding pass out. You would then curbside chedk your luggage and go straight to security. I would think 90 min. so you wont be rushed. 1 hour would be my minimum as long as you dont't have to stop at the ticket counter.without stopping at the ticket counter.
