A "perm"enant is when your hair is tightly rolled into rollors of various sizes and a chemical is placed on them to make it the "perm"enant curl. This process is down with a chemical to break down your hairs natual enzymes and the the rollors reform them.

In African American terms a perm makes your hair soft and silky.You just put perm on hair then shampoo and condition it and wash the perm out and your hair gets straight.So thats my advice to you about the only kinda perm I know.Perms such as Lovely&Silky, and my favorite perm is called Just For ME, they sell those perms at Sally's and other beauty hair stores

If you are talking about a perm by African American standards ... it is a chemical you put on the hair to relax curls, waves, and kinkiness...
If you are talking about a perm why Caucasian standards it is a chemical put on your hair to turn straight and limp hair into curly and thick

There are two different kinds of perms, yes they damage your hair so if you have thin hair, i wouldn't recommend it. There is the curly perm and then there is the straight perm which is also called a relaxer. they both really damage your hair and dry it out and technically "kill" your hair. Don't get one if your hair is already damaged.

A perm is something that you do to your hair. It makes your hair permanently curly for about a year or so.

straight answer a perm is what makes your hair curly, or wavy, it last for about 6 months then u usually have to do it again or look like a frizz ball basically good luck

It's a chemical process where the hair is 'permanetly' curled. It washes out with in a few weeks. Dye is to color as a perm is to texture.
