How do I recieve charity?

My husband and I are desperate for any kind of financial assistance. Please help.

"lifeoftheparty" seems to have missed the point that you are desperate now, and weren't the day you bought the computer.

First, look to your family and your husband's family.

Your local Community Action Program would be a good start, or your church if you are affiliated with one.

The Salvation Army may help.

You might find listings in the "Community" section near the front of your local telephone book.

It all depends on your situation and how you go there honey. Nobody can help you unless you learn to help yourselves and by that I mean getting jobs, even if it's flipping burgers. It also means giving up the extras and just going with the necessities. The more initiative you take in this, the more independent you are going to be. A handout is only going to get you so far, but a hand up will get you through life.

And you may not like my answer, but you must realize that no matter how bad your situation is, someone else out there has it ten times worse than you. Be glad you have each other! Let that be your strength to get you started.

go to your local family services department where you live. Also, alot of assistance depends on your income. Do you have a job?
Do you have childern in the home? there is alot of help out there , but my best advice as a single mother , HELP YOURSELF FIRST !

Try going to churches. That can help you. Also try looking online that can help for financial aid and contact them. I'm positive they would love to help you. Try www.ed.gov
