Religion itself doesn't fail. Religious people fail.

all religions well the ones i know about all do promote peace love and being good people, its just the media and people today who help corrupt these religions. The major source of news around the world comes from the media which is filtered to provide better ratings for them, they do not care much about the whole truth, they care more about money. You have to remember that religion was created when advancements in technology were not very far, these new opportunities can be good to humankind but can really take a toll on religions and their meaning. i hope that made sense.

You cannot organize Truth. You must find it and live in it. When you organize it you separate, or divide yourself out, which is an act of violence to others, no matter how well meaning. When you do that you are compelled to defend your decision, and defense is part of the cycle of violence. Nothing created by man is Sacred, and all religions are the creation of men. What the "founders" saw and attempted to communicate was not the religion. The religion in their name was the attempt to organize what they said after they were gone. Religions fail, not because of the founders, but because those that followed after have not also found the Truth for themselves and lived it. Essentially they are worshiping the menu instead of eating the dinner, and usually end up arguing over which entree listed is the tastiest.

That is not the summary of the Christian faith, as much as non-Christians keep trying to convince us of that.

The summary of the Christian faith is more like this.

1. We believe in a Holy God and that He calls all the shots.
2. We believe we have chosen to commit sins, and separated ourselves from Him.
3. We believe He requires sacrifice for our sins.
4. We are incapable of coming up with a good enough sacrifice, and we deserve spiritual death.
5 We believe God provided Jesus Christ with a way to pay that penalty for us.
6. We were really....really...grateful, so we gave Him those lives He saved.
7. With those lives, we are to in turn tell others how they can be free within the loving boundaries of His love, and we are to care for one another without prejudice.

The outcome of this faith? If everyone were a Christian, THEN and only then would all of mankind achieve.."peace, love, and happiness, and being good people".

I wonder about that myself. That is why my faith is tested almost everyday. People call themselves believers but are really hypocrites. I think they fail because they are so caught up in their religion and it's belief that they cannot see what is really going on. More people are killed in the name of religion, than any other fatality. It truly saddens me. I am okay with people having different beliefs, so why do others have a problem? Good question, but I have no answer.

well, read this:

False Religion . . .
MEDDLES IN WAR AND POLITICS: “Across Asia and beyond,” says the journal Asiaweek, “power-hungry leaders are cynically manipulating people’s religious sentiments for their own needs.” As a result, the journal warns: “The world threatens to sink into madness.” A prominent religious leader in the United States declared: “You’ve got to kill the terrorists before the killing stops.” His solution? “Blow them all away in the name of the Lord.” By contrast, the Bible says: “If anyone makes the statement: ‘I love God,’ and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar.” (1 John 4:20) Jesus even said: “Continue to love your enemies.” (Matthew 5:44) How many religions can you think of whose members engage in war?

SPREADS FALSE DOCTRINE: Most religions teach that the soul or spirit is some invisible part of a human that survives the death of the physical body. By means of this teaching, many of these religions exploit their members, charging money to pray for departed souls. However, the Bible teaches a different doctrine. “The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.” (Ezekiel 18:4) “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Jesus taught that the dead will be resurrected—an unnecessary action if humans had an immortal soul. (John 11:11-25) Does your religion teach that the soul does not die?

TOLERATES IMMORAL SEX: In Western lands, church groups ordain gay and lesbian members of the clergy and urge governments to recognize same-sex marriages. Even churches that condemn immorality have tolerated religious leaders who have sexually abused children. What, though, does the Bible teach? It plainly states: “Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men . . . will inherit God’s kingdom.” (1 Corinthians 6:9, 10) Do you know of religions that condone immoral sex?

What does the future hold for religions that produce rotten fruit? Jesus warned: “Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire.” (Matthew 7:19) Yes, false religion will be chopped down and destroyed! But how and when will this happen? A prophetic vision recorded in the Bible book of Revelation, chapters 17 and 18, provides the answer.

but god promises that false religion will soon end. learn more:

Because most of the major religions only preach peace and love under certain conditions. When these conditions are not met, peace and love do not prevail. Find an unconditional religion.

probably because most of them focus on the things you mentioned.

Most are works oriented and self righteous.

The word religion means mans attempt at finding God.

Thats the problem right there, Mans attempt....

The thing is, the bible says man is not "good", but sinful, and the cure for this is Jesus Christ, not anything I can do to, but just accept that free gift.

If we fail it is because of the stupid and insulting questions we are asked. If someone has a honest question, I try to help. The nut heads and nasty questions I leave alone.
It seems that is okay to insult a Christian and all we believe in, but we shouldn't ever say anything back or blast someone.
Double standards-

Because they are often co-opted by men (and women) who are more interested in leaving a legacy than actually finding true spiritual fulfillment. That's where the vile manipulation and exploitation associated with so many religions comes from.
