NO...The money that is being wasted in printing everything under the sun in a second language because people are TOO LAZY to learn the language of the country they have illegally entered. I get a power bill in 10 different languages before I can find the page that I need!! Can't make a phone call without press # 1 etc. My family had to learn English when we got here, there where no Norwegian texts books or signs on anything. There were no social help programs of any kind; we brought the life savings and bought a farm in the Dakotas. Now 150 years later I can not get a job or anything because there are illegals with their hands out taking $$, housing, jobs, medical, food stamps, etc.!! I have 2 college degrees and a good job back ground, but that is useless now since every single job requires bilingual!! No matter what the job! NO we do not want or need Spanish as a official language, this is the United States of America, we speak English.

As long as we live in a democratic capitalist society, we have the right to consume almost any product we want.
The blocking of any channel (Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese or whatever) breaks two of our basic American/US values:
1) Free speech (political)
2) Free market (economic)
Those who might be in favor of such regulations will soon be telling us what "ethnic" foods we can/cannot eat...
I fear we are becoming more and more like the French who legislate what citizens can/cannot wear to work & school, how many foreign movies are allowed to be shown, how many foreign TV shows are allowed to be shown, and what language can be spoken. Who would have thought that French would become fascist.

Well I've met people from other countries that get TV from their previous country but they PAID extra for them. I don't want to have to PAY for Spanish channels or any other language channel along with what I already PAY to have English. What few free non-cable channels we have here are in SPANISH. Gee....think ONLY Spanish people might not be able to afford cable? I don't care if they have them....just pay up and not on MY dime. Pay extra like we have to for games or something that isn't covered. But big major gripe I have is if you have Spanish TV...keep your darn Spanish commercials off the English stations. Major grip 2. I pay for my internet access. It has Latino Comcast. If I put translate to Spanish on any of the English sites....it translates them to Spanish.. But if I go to Comcast Latino and want it translated to Spanish it only does the cover page. If you go to a specific article and want it translated, it takes you right back to the cover page. They even had a survey that asked if the Latinos wanted their Comcast Latino to be translated in English as well, and they voted no. So I called Comcast and sure enough that's the case! It's not like I don't know how to work the computer or did something wrong. So I was told to "search the web" because somewhere the articles were out there where I might get them translated to English. Now come on. I can go to a darn site in any country and have it translated to English but on my own computer, in my own country, with the same service I PAY for....they can vote NOT to translate it to English? Funny how the rules don't equally apply. I can just hear them screaming if they had some forbidden zone in which they were REFUSED access. Racism? Hmmmm?

It's not a right. Spanish language channels exist because there are millions of people in this country for whom Spanish is their first language. Media companies and advertisers then advertise to these people in their primary language in order to sell more products. That makes it a business.
Our rights in this country include free speech, free assembly, freedom from unreasonable searches, etc.

Sorry, but no one has a right to have a Spanish channel or an English channel for that matter. Spanish channels are started and run by people who want to make a PROFIT. As long as consumers are interested in what they are marketing, then said Spanish channel will prosper. Rights have nothing to do with it.

Television was not around when the Constitution was written. TV is strictly business, so to speak. If advertisers are willing to pay for air time, on Spanish language networks, it works for me.
Just this Sunday morning, I was listening to polka music on the radio. The station was from Cleveland and everything was broadcast in Polish. I cannot imagine who paid for the air time, but that's all it takes: money.
There is no "right" to air time. It has to be paid for by someone.

I don't really care what Spanish language channels are on the TV, that's not what's important. What's important is assimilating to your new home and having loyalty to your new country, and this has very little to do with your choice of television programming.

rights? not sure.....but the way I see it is , if someone broadcasts something in a language other than English. They are catering to whomever speaks that language.....Lets say Spanish, because thats the majority of our immigrants....here in TX anyway. So someone broadcasts something in Spanish. I take offense to it, because, they want the mexicans to hear the message but not me....I would guess that most illegals if not all of them, do not understand English. i would also guess that most legal residents do understand english. based on that, I can assume that the radio and tv stations are catering to illegal aliens, and they support it....

I don't mind the Spanish channels. What bothers me is when you look at the back of a package or an instruction manual and it's always written in English AND Spanish. If you live in America you should be able to speak and read English.
