I am in a bind with christmas and what to get everyone. I have about 10 people at least to buy for that are at the top of my have to list. I am on a tight budget with being in school, and just recently having a little one. So my husband and I are in need of gift buying, but I am worried about prices and costs. I want to get something nice for everyone, but I am unsure of what to do.
Here are the ages if that helps 13, 23, 28 (boy/guys), 28 year old sister in law. Mother and Father in Law, and a Grandma. I am desperate for some ideas!

thanks in advance!

Buy clearance items, go to dollar stores, by things that are on sale. Best idea of all is to make things, not only are they cheap to make, they come from the heart. Now a days people put way to much emphasis on gifts, when they need to look at the real meaning of Christmas. Merry Christmas and good luck to you.

Why don't you get the 7 month old a special book and write a little letter to her on the inside of the cover. She is not going to have an idea what she got, but this way she will get something small (cheap) and meaningful and can look back on it later. A really nice book could cost $20, but you could go a lot cheaper! We got our toddler a little piano from target, it is shaped like a kitty and has a microphone. He played with it in the store that day and LOVED it. It cost $30 and he won't look at another toy for a while when we give it to him. Just find some cool toy, and don't overdo it. As for you family, do you have a limit? You could get your brother a movie or cd or itunes card or something that he would like - around $20. Your mom - get her a picture frame that is also a book that she an display (I got one for my mom that says Grandkids on it) and she put it on the end table in her living room and loves adding photo's to it. I got it at Khols for like $15. For the in-laws, you could do the same photo book/frame. Or something similar - another $15. That puts you at about $100 and leaves left over cash for cake and gift for birthday. You could be more generous if you choose, but I bet people will understand simple, meaningful gifts. Merry Christmas!

Here are so good gift ideas:

13-year-old boy- cool novelty items from Spencer’s or a skullcap with wristbands are good presents. At Spencer’s, they have lots of gag presents, T-shirts, and stuff from TV shows that he may like.

23-year-old guy- ties and new loafers are a definite no at this age, since he is just going out into the real world! Spice up his life by buying him a nice sweatshirt, a set of CD’s, or trivial pursuit on DVD. If you want to be classic, get him a cool, cheap coffee maker.

28 year old guy- now that he is almost 30, get him something a little more sophisticated, like a gift card to a fancy restaurant like bonefish or Barnes and noble, with a new, cheap but handsome looking bathrobe with a set of his favorite coffee.

28 year old sister- in- law- buy her something pretty but classic, since she is getting more mature, almost 30. Buy her a little bit of Clinique make-up with some comfortable slippers, her favorite CD, and maybe a set of tea at Fante's, which you can order online. If the make-up is too pricey, get her some new Liz Claiborne earrings on the sales rack. They are always nice!

Mother-in-law- the mother in law is usually older than 50 or 55, so get her something nice to show that you care about your husband's parents. A set of her favorite novels with a cute coffee mug and a pair of cheap earrings is a nice gift!

Father in law- if you can afford it, but him a new Ralph Lauren top or an affordable watch with an engraved picture frame of him and his wife to keep at his bedside.

Grandma- get grandma a matching slipper/ bathrobe set with a new pair of gloves that have some good style. Or, you could buy her a new CD with Tony Bennet or some other classic music for her to listen to at Christmas time with the slipper and robe matching set.

These ideas are good, so they'll probably keep your budget and make your family smile!

Here is what we do. Anyone out of high school and/or college choose names of everyone including the parents, in-laws, etc. You set a spending limit that everyone can afford. Even tho the parents are included we all end up buying gifts for them (after all they did for you and siblings when times were tough). You do not need to be buying for all these people. If they don't understand remind them the true meaning of Christmas. Other suggestions are you can go with your sister in law and help her do something, etc. It is a workable situation as long as you understand you just can't afford to purchase for everyone!
