I think its impossible to scan thru the years and come up with just one fight being "the best" I've ever seen. (Sorry). But, I do remember one vividly that I think was one of the "best" and then some. Michael Carbajal vs Humberto Gonzalez in Las Vegas, March 1993. First time in history a Light Flyweight fight was the Main Event on a PPV card. Probably two of the heaviest handed guys at 108lbs in history. This was the first of the three wars these two had. To make it even more inticing, it was a unification match, Michael's IBF belt against Chiquita's WBC belt.

Tensions had been building between the two leading up to fight night. When the bell sounded Gonzalez was all business. Power Punches were coming from every direction. Carbajal gets dropped in Rounds 2 and 5. Going into the 7th Round, Gonzalez lead on all scorecards (58-54 all judges). Carbajal looked weary and dazed. He had been through hades and back up to that point. Carbajal was no quitter and kept the fight competitive with crisp combinations. Between every round hearing his Brother Screaming and trying to keep Michael motivated.

Humberto was sticking with his game plan and landing vicious combinations once again. I remember looking at the time in the lower right hand corner of the screen and saying "Well Carbajal survived another round but I think he's going down for the count in the 8th"

..2:52--2:53....2:56..7th Round was probably already scored on all the judges cards at that moment, '10 more points for Gonzalez' (I blinked), BAMMMMM!! ...."ARE YOU KIDDING ME???" With only one second remaining in the 7th round (2 minutes 59 seconds say it a few times to get the effect) Carbajal KOs Gonzalez with a picture perfect left hook to the point of the chin. Fantastic Fight, Fantastic Finish.

so a techniques as entire ability and ability shown by using 2 warring parties at a given time, Leonard-Hagler is a classic. no longer lot of action for bloodthirsty followers, tho. yet i could no longer sleep that night SRL got here upon the thank you to win. yet another one in this mode could be Holmes-Norton. in case you like blood and guts, attempt Foreman-Lyle. in case you opt to work out how boxing ability and discipline wins out over laziness, I incredibly propose Barrera-Hamed. i do no longer understand if we've considered a extra consummate professional than Barrera in a protracted time. in case you opt to work out an puffed up legend get whipped in his top, inspect Whitaker-Chavez.

Castillo Vs. Corrales - Dramatic Finish Back and Forth See-Saw action. The 10th round was the best EVER in my opinion.
Corrales comes back from 2 knockdowns and KNOCKS out Castillo in the SAME round secods later. Unreaaaal.

Julio Cesar Chavez vs. Meldrick Taylor - For its last Second KO in the Last Round of the fight.

Hagler vs. Hearns For the 3 straight rounds of BOMBS being thrown

Nobody beats Ali-Frazier trilogy. It's a classic. There are many other great boxing fights like Ward-Gatti trilogy. Holyfield-Bowe trilogy. My second favourite heavyweight trilogy. Morales-Barrera.

Mancini and Kim stands out in my mind. Not just because Kim died, but that fight was a total war and went back and forth until the unfortunate end. Argueo (spelling?) was fun to watch and I can't remember the name of the boxer who knocked him out but that was a classic fight between a boxer and a puncher. There's just too many good one's to give a definitive.

i know i'm dating myself, but i have to go way back in the day to remember some realy terrific fights:

matthew saad muhammad vs eddie mustafa muhammad

mike spinks vs dwight braxton

sugar ray vs hitman 1

ali vs foreman - it's hard to pick just one ali fight bec most of his fights were more like great performances than great fights, since he so outclassed most of his opponents

for sheer drama, hype, and fulfilment of that hype, gotta go w/hagler vs hearns....it was perfect and thoroughly satisfying and didn't leave you wanting more!!!
