If the puppy has already left mom then they are ready to have a bath. Do not use anything with a pesticide until at least 12 weeks depending on the brand you use. I don't know what kind of dog you have but you may want to take it to a groomer while it is still very little. Even if it is a short hair and you will be bathing it yourself it is good for it to get used to socializing and you may need a groomer in the future to cut his/her nails and express the anal glands. You should talk to the groomer extensively before leaving your puppy. The groomer should be willing to offer good solid advice and answer any questions you have. If they are short with you they may not have the patience for a puppy.

Hi there is no age limit on bathing your pup, I gave mine a full bath on friday when I got him and he is 8 weeks old same as I did my ***** (he did get covered in dog poo though courtesy of my 8month old Bully *****). I've never had a problem with them smelling of pee though so cant help you with that one. You can pick up some good shampoo's at any pet store I use a medicated shampoo from the vets for mine it's called Malaseb quite expensive though. It's for skin conditions but it keeps their coat nicely maintained. I don't use it very often though.
I think giving them a bath quite early on helps with bonding and also gets them used to water quicker. My pups love having a bath now, they hated it the first few times but they cant get enough now.

Just try washing the rear of the puppy in warm water - don't put them all the way in the water.
Using a puuppy detergent will sork See if you can get some from the vt or the pet store.

Get a shampoo for dogs, one with oatmeal. You can start giving baths at 21/2 months. Staffies can have dry skin. Is the smell on the dog, a bath will do it. In your rug good to wal-mart and get something made it removing pet orders its in the pet department.
ai use OUT

I start giving pups a bath when their mommy stops giving them a bath. Somewhere between 4 & 5 Weeks of age. It is a good idea to just use warm water and no soap.
As long as the pup isn't named "Taso" you should be OK.
I was never sure if I gave her a bath or she gave me a bath.

Puppies can have bbaths, they just can't get washed with flea shampoo. My vet recomends for kittens and puppies to use Dawn to wash them, since Dawn kills off fleas, this should also get rid of the urine smell. Just don't use the Dawn too often as it will dry out their skin. You can use conditioner if you just want them to smell better. Good Luck.

I started bathing my my puppy as soon as I got him. I would let him stand in the tub and I was use a cup to wash him with puppy shampoo. I think you need to bathe them at a young age because it will be something their use to when they get older. My dog is used to taking a bath every Saturday and he is excited about it - he jumps in the dog tub willingly.
