My husband and I danced to a John Cougar Melloncamp song that is pretty much impossible to dance to. But we managed. It was a song that we both liked and thought of each other everytime it was on. Your "dance" doesn't have to be a slow sappy song. It should mean something to the two of you. Our other song we like was "Is this Love" by Bob Marley. Again, a song that meant something to us...a song we first both danced to another wedding. Just be happy with the song and don't just settle for something because it's a slow love song.

First of all, I think it would be kind of tacky to have a rap song as your first dance together, even if he does like rap, because not too many rap songs have very romantic lyrics. You should get him to listen to "At Last" by Etta James- it's a classic, very jazzy and romantic without being sappy, and she really pours her soul into singing it, which is not the least bit boring. Compromise by telling him there will be plenty of rap songs played during the reception that the two of you can dance to.

Good luck! Does he really think rap's appropriate? Wow...

Well, we danced to Kissing You by Des'ree (Romeo and Juliet soundtrack). It's very soulful and might be a happy medium for you both.

Otherwise, I'd go with a jazz tune. Something sung by Billie Holliday.

This might not be a song you would want to dance to but it is a real mushy sentimental song that parents usually love especially after a few drinks go to fairplaymusicalgifts, com go to samples and download Song for The Parents of the Bride It’s free.

So long ago
Still there are some critical things
That you should know

Do I take you to be
Without question the woman for me
Do I promise you
I Do

This love has been worth waiting for
Cause love doesn't matter to me..hiieee

I know it's not jazz or rap, but for my wedding we're gonna dance to Mary J. Blidge's "Be without You". It's nice upbeat with just the right amount of soul. And I could just cry when she says, "Ladies let him know he's got your Love"!!!!!!

Go on Youtube.com, and in the search box type in "I'm your Angel" you should get this song by R. Kelly and Celine Dion. It is such a beautiful song! Or you could do the Titanic song! I don't know these are your taste but I love the song "I'm your Angel" and one day It is gonna be the first song on me planner!

How about a classic, slow song from the 50's or 60's? Very retro- everybody can identify with it, it'll bring back memories with your older guests and maybe even start a tradition with you and your man!
