My best friend recently decided that she was fat. Period.

She's 5'8" and she said she weighs about 140 pounds. She refuses to eat lunch, or drink anything other than water. She even refuses gum, because it has calories. How can I convince her that she's not fat? I really worried because I think this may become a serious problem!

She's just trying to lose some weight. There is nothing wrong with that. Trying to lose some weight and be a bit on the thinner side does not mean you need to seek therapy and have a problem..
You should be more supportive of your friend in her efforts to lose weight.
The reason why all these kids today are so fat is because everyone is telling you you are OK and that if you think you are not, you have "low" self esteem.-- which guess what? Is not such a bad thing if the low self esteem brings you to self determination, making yourself a better person.
Serial killers have high self esteems. Self esteem is overrated.
I think if she wants to be 5'8 and 120 lbs, that is a normal weight, as long as she's getting some calories in to sustain her and she is exercising in order to keep the weight off.
Be supportive of her, not critical. Perhaps she may inspire you to get in shape too.

I think that part of the problem is our society. We have totally unrealistic ideas about how people - Women in particular - are supposed to look. It becomes difficult to be okay with who you are when you don't measure up to the models. (even the guys who are losing their hair have these issues.) It seems like we are becoming more and more superficial. I have even heard someone remark to someone else that they didn't think somebody else could have any problems because they were so pretty. Imagine that - all my problems could be solved - if only I were pretty enough .... usually is not a case. Recommend her
Montignac lifestyle. it will change all her world

ok when someone is really determined to lose weight u just have to support them but by skipping meals her body will retain the weight as her brain sends it msgs to store up because it doesnt know when it will be full again look up some nutrition sites advise her not to be stupid with "fad" diets they dont work the only way she can get in shape is to eat healthy and excersise u should support her through this

Hi, first of all I congratulate you on being such a thoughtful friend.

You should get her to fill out the body mass indicator chart .. it takes into account her weight and height and tells her if shes fat or not ... I just did it for her weight and height and it said she could be 146 pounds and still skinny!

This will help her out! Best wishes

Wow!! i imagine she's rather attractive and ought to also be extra attractive with as a lot as date hair decrease and makeup. i imagine that perhaps someone in her spouse and little ones has informed her she's not extraordinarily in spite of the indisputable fact that it rather has to go back from her. purchase her a e book on self self belief and tell her you don't love her putting herself down.

Your friend is definitely not fat, I weigh about that and only an inch shorter than she is and I am not chunky. She needs to see a therapist because she is putting herself and her health in danger. It's good that you care for your friend, she is very lucky to have you. Good luck and I hope you friend will be alright! Be there for her and continue to support her in getting well.

Ask her why she feels that way. something she read, seen on t/v.
someone told her.
This all of a sudden feeling is not good.

Try to explain that she is endangering her health.
And keeping this idea in her head will cause her to get sick and possibly
be in the hospital..
