The economic and political instability of the Weimar Republic along with fear of communism made Germans open for a take-charge style of leadership, and Adolph Hitler's National Socialists were able to take power through a combination of nationalism, fraud, and scapegoating of Jews as the cause of all of Germany's problems. Germany under Hitler regained its pride, unfortunately it also gained with it a sense of German superiority and disdain for all others. As a result Nazi Germany became one of the most aggressive and evil nations the world has ever known, plunging the world into a war and killing millions in extermination camps. By the time the Allied nations had finally ended the war, Naziism had been revealed to be little more than an autocratic regime with pretensions of principle which were merely designed to hide its murderous core.
