I have the same problem. I use a straightening shampoo and conditioner (I recommend Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight), then use a blow-dry straightening spray (I like Frizz-Ease), then blow-dry my hair. It's important to make sure your hair is all the way dry, or it will start to curl later. If I do all that, my hair is straight all day.

I know exactly how you feel!
I have naturally curly-and I mean curly-and after I straighten it, it curls up after, well, like you said, about five hours.
I don't blowdry my hair, and it keeps it looking "fresh". I have a Farouk Chi. It's a good straightener. If you order it from a salon, it could cost anywhere from $100-200, depending if you want a colored one. But, instead of paying $100+, I ordered mine from a store (Don't buy it used. That's gross.), for only $80, plus shipping. It only cape up to about $90. I've had it for about 4 months, and it's good as new. Three people in my household use it everyday, and it still heats up to its peak temperature.
As for the curling after hours. I don't know what it's called (Sorry!), but I sometimes use a product, called Paul Mitchell---. Also, I use different CHI products, such as CHI Silk Infusion--It makes your hair softer. CHI Iron Guard 94--It protects it from heat damage. I also use various hairsprays and finishing sprays from CHI. It's a VERY reliable brand. Their blowdryers dry my hair in 4 minutes, and it's EXTREMELY thick! (I don't use it, but my twin does, and we have the same hair.)
Whatever you do, don't get it chemically straightened. It's a waste of money. Salons say they last for months, but really it's only a week, and it damages your hair.
Good luck!

Yeah your natural hair is curly by the sound of it. There's not much you can do about keeping your hair straight, get the best straighteners you can get GHD's are very good, but quite expensive. I think you should just let your hair be itself too, don't straighten it everyday,it'll become dry and you may get split ends. Hope I help! :) xx

yeaahhhh my hair is the same. i use garnier fructis sleek and shine serum. it helps keeping your hair flat, but dont use too much and dont use on your roots, it will make them look more greasy than needed. also try aussie tizz no frizz gel. AND dont blow dry your hair straight...it seperates your hair and roughs up the cuticles. let your hair dry naturally all the way, but put product in after the shower. run through it with your fingers, because brushes break the cuticles as well. straighten it with a cermaic straightener. i suggest the conair infiniti....its more of an ionic flat iron and works better on bigger hair. i think mine cost 45, which honestly is very good for a good flat iron.. dont get it chemically straightened unless you want to ruin your curls until it grows out. and NEVER relax caucasian hair, its to strong and will ruin your hair. also, wear your hair natural with the same products, it looks great for me!! good luck with it, email if you have any more questions!!

Do you straighten your hair with a straightening iron? That is the only thing that works for me. If it gets wet or is humid out though then it just frizzes and curls right back up. Frizz-eez works pretty good though. I even had it chemically straightened but it only lasted like a week-waste of money.

Ok i dont know if this will wrok with you but it does with me, wash your hair take the knots out and put some mousse/gel.(while wet) blow dry it slowly while brushing it. When it's dry should then use a straight iron. Dont wash it until you want to go through this process again. Good Luck!

And I bet if you get it straight and walk out in the rain, it curls right up on you!
You simply have naturally curly hair...if you want to spend the money, you could go to a salon and have them "relax" it for you...it's kind of like a "reverse perm".

Probley because you dont have a very good straightner!
but one at a salon all the ones I use at my salon are good quality, because they have to be. Make sure you buy one with ceramic plates, so it dosent break your hair, and it leave a shiny look!
they range from $60-160!
ask someone who works there what they think would work the best!
and as an add when straightning your hair, use silk therepy, by biosilk. Its about 16 dollar at a salon or beauty supply, its a great product!
hope this helps and good luck!

ummm...take it from me, i have naturally curly hair and the first thing you need to invest in is a ceramin flat iron. They get the hottest and won't burn your hair. You also need to make sure you are using a moisturizer when you flat iron and a glosser to spritz your hair with after you are done
