The correct way is to hold the card in your right hand with the front facing up as if you were going to read it yourself. Then slide it into the envelope. The opening will be at the top. Then when it is opened, the person slides the card out and it is ready to open and read.
If you do it any other way, the card will be backwards or upside down.

It should be place in so that when the letter is opened, it can be read without having to turn the card.
The card should be inserted opening first, with the front of the card facing the back of the envelope.

I usually put it so that the front of the card faces the back of the envelope. That way, when they open it from the back of the envelope, they see the front of the card first.

I always put it in so you see the front of the card when you open the back flap. I also put it with the opening down - others are saying up, but I say opening down.

Front shows up when you open the flap. The right way is to place it backwards but, no one does that these days.

Place it with the opening up so that it doesn't get torn when the envelope is opened.
