We don't use crosses in our religion because we see it as a symbol of death, and prefer to focus on the living Christ. Nothing against crosses as a symbol of Christianity - that's just our preference.
The stars you refer aren't really that important of a symbol of our faith . In fact, Gordon B. Hinkley, a man we revere as a modern day Prophet said that the symbol of our faith is the lives of the members who follow it.
...on other temples you'll see suns and moons and some stars, it has to do with the scripture in the Bible that talks about a glory of the sun and the moon and the stars...Like I said, not that important, they're just pretty architecturally speaking and lead the thoughts upwards to God and His glory.

Some people think that the upside-down five pointed star that is found on the Salt Lake Temple is an "occult" symbol, but it is in fact a Christian symbol that has fallen out of favor. The downward pointing ray represents revelation from God. Other symbols are the sun, moon, and stars, representing God's works. The Big Dipper is shown, as it points to the polar star. It is a reminder to stay on course, and seek after those things which matter most.

Thank you so much for asking this question. I found a cool link listed below that explains the symbolism - including 5 and 6 pointed stars - on the outside of the Salt Lake temple. I was so excited to learn more. The six-pointed stars remind me of Jewish Stars of David, so I was impressed to see another correlation between our temples dedicated to Jesus Christ and the temples in the Old Testament. Have a happy day, and if you ever come to Temple Square, I am sure you will feel a feeling of peace emanating from the area. Have a happy day.

I think you have your facts mixed up. The pentagram has many other meanings, in fact, most of the meanings are in referrence to heath, the elements which make up the world, the Morning Star or Christ, etc. Most of the symbols on the Temple represent the astronomical stages of the earth, and others the levels of glory they believe are attainable after this life. Certainly, they are not into magic or satanism.

Um - hello - kristy - Why wouldn't you get the truth from an acutal member??? I AM A MEMBER and what you are saying is totally false and you are just spreading lies. Please, STOP.
Satan has NOTHING to do with the temple! He was in the Garden with Adam and Eve, trying to lead them astray. That's it, that's the only thing he has to do with anything in the temple. I feel I must stand up for the right here...I am sad that Kristy you are SO misguided. You have all your "facts" wrong - your words are twisted and I truly hope no one listens to you. You are doing Satan's work whether you know it or not. You are trying to lead people from the truth and he is applauding you. I am sorry for you.
Straightup and Cookie have answered the question well...listen to them. You may or may not believe the gospel but at least do not listen to gossip and nasty rumors that are false.

The pagan symbols on the outside are a view of what goes on inside. It is not Christian at all what goes on in the temple.

Daisykriss has answered this question well
The main thing is in our thirteenth article of faith
We Believe in being Honest , True, chaste, benevolent, virtuous and in doing good to all men
Indeed we may say we follow the admonition of Paul
We Believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things.
If there is anything virtuous lovely or of good report or praiseworthy,
We seek after those things.

Nice question. It's not likely that you will get the truth from a Mormon.
Lucifer is the Mormon temple god who instructs the Mormons on the path to godhood like he did with Adam and Eve, and it is Lucifer's priesthood they invoke. Mormons are opposed to everything Christian related to doctrine or life style, they just use the Name and attempt to usurp Christ's power and deity themselves. That explains the occult symbols on the temples...it is an occult experience to go through the Mormon rituals and secret oaths and vows.
BTW, the Mormon temples have nothing in common with Jewish/Biblical temples, or New Testament Christianity. A comparison of the activities of the Biblical temple and Mormon temples shows clearly that the two have nothing in common. The rending of the veil signified the end of the temple worship system. That system is now obsolete, and we no longer need a human priest or temple. Under the New Covenant established by Jesus Christ, He is the believer’s High Priest.

Their founders were Masons, so they adopted the Masonic symbolism of "the Five Points of Fellowship."
