I am 17 years old and my mother is against tanning. She doesnt want me to go. So do i have to be a certain age in order to go to the tanning bed (ive tried looking online, and i live in kentucky). I have a job and my mom says ill have to pay for it, but she wont sign for me if i do need a parents signature. I really need to go because i have never been to a tanning bed before and it is coming to winter. Not to mention when it will snow i will just blend in haha.

Where I tan in NY, you only need a parent signature if you are 16 or under. I bet in Kentucky at age 17 you won't need a parent signature. Just go and check out places, you might find that you don't need a parent's approval unless if you're over 16. Make sure you start out only going in for a few minutes so you don't fry! It's painful!

There are good reasons that your mom is against tanning beds, other than the fakey look you get from tanning all winter.
Tanning bed expose your skin to the same cancer-causing UV rays that natural sun does, only at 20 times the power. Using a tanning bed EVEN ONCE increases your chance of skin cancer.
Don't worry so much about your fair skin. Removing just one little cancerous mole will leave a 3 inch thick scar.

Yes, in most places you have to be atleast 18 to tan without a parents signature, but if you know someone, like a friend, that works at a tanning salon you can probably get in without getting something signed. Or you know you can always just get the form and take it home and just beg you mom to sign it... thats what i did!

Dont' go to the tanning beds honey. do yourself a favor, your mom knows what she is talking about. You can do a lot more damage than just UV rays, it is far worse for premature aging than even spending a few hours at the beach.
Don't do it, you'll ruin your skin, your complexion, and will have a billion wrinkles in your 20s. It's not worth it. Just cherish your whiteness and your youth. Get the fake tan.

Hey, I live in Louisville. I just recently discovered the wonderful world of Mystic Tanning. It's a body spray that last for up to 7 days. Me and my friends all get it done at Suntan City. And it looks great. A bit pricey, but worth it.
ps You don't have to be 18 for this either.

Ive never heard of having to be of age to go. Just call the tanning bed, But you could also look into self tanners or spray tanning. Much better for you, tanning in a bed will cause premature wrinkling, and can lead to skin cancer.

First tanning beds arent any better then tanning from the sun its really bad for your skin, and LONG term expocure can cause cancer of the skin (both sun and tanning booths) why dont you try mystic tan or the other spray on tan. they dont harm your skin.
