Mini bulbs are about 25 watts per 50 bulb strand. Your 1500 bulbs would be 30 strands times 25 watts equals 750 watts. At about 10 cents per kilowatt (1000 Watt) hour, equals about
7 1/2 cents per hour. 6 hours per day equals 45 cents per day, times 30 days equals $13.50 per month.

The cost for running the lights is not as expensive as most are lead to believe. I think many people use this an excuse to not have to do it. I have over 50 strands of lights (mostly 300 count mini light strands) and several fixtures on the outside of my home as well as lights for the Christmas tree and other interior decorations and my bill only shows an average increase for the month of about 30.00. To me, 30 solars for the month extra in electric bill is well worth the enjoyment people get from seeing my home as they drive by and there kids are like, "Look at the lights Mommy..." Helping to put a smile on other peoples faces is priceless and I enjoy all the hard work I have to put into putting my lights up that long day after thanksgiving. So, put up your lights. Go buy some more and get more each year. There is no thing as too much. The kids love them and it makes them smile every time they see them.

He's right. I put mine up one year and my electric bill went up almost $100. I skipped putting them up last year and may do the same this year! The utility rates are too high for me!!!

It is by far too expensive!! I have yet to see a change in our bill other than when we had electric heat. Plus Christmas would be worth it to me!!
