My husband will be gone for 6mo. with bct & ait, we live in a boring town far from home & have only been here a year. I have 3 kids under 4 one's a newborn. Should I go home to my folks? Will he be sent to our new base (in Germany, Hawaii, NY whereever we get stationed) ahead of me or can we all go together? Im worried the army will take him & leave me homeless.

If you can go home for 6 months I highly recommend it .the army will move you from there ,but NOT TO THERE.Save all the money you can and keep any problems and distractions to a minimum,If you parents home is near a Fort you can and should get your ID cards ASAP and learn about army finance and ARMY COMUNITY SERVICE -they have wives and counsolers to advise and support you-you will both be fine - YOU BELONG TO THE ARMY FAMILY NOW!-lol

ok ok ok easy there...

the Army is not going to take him and leave you homeless....

Since you are married he will get all of the allowances that he is entitled to which will pay your bills and whatnots until you transfer.

You could move back in with your mother...but...is that what you really want to do?

It's up to you...but he is in the Army now and his Army career will always come first. Sorry I was in the Navy and that is how they look at it.

And as far as his first duty station goes...depends on where it is...usually they like for the active duty member to go alone to get things set up...just easier on everyone that way.

They won't. He'll get BAH which is a housing allowence. he can have that directly deposited into your account.

It might be easier for you to go home for now. Why do you think he'll go overseas for first duty station?

The army will pay for all the family's household goods to be moved to whereever he's stationed.

It'll be ok!

you'll be fine! if you do get overseas, it depends on whether you will get command sponsorship or not as to whether you will be able to travel there with him. sometimes the soldier goes first and has to get housing before the family can come. the army will pay for the family to the new duty station, but you will have to fly by yourself with the kids. if its too much, sometimes the soldier can pay for his own way and fly back with you and the kids. i would go live with your parents until he has completed his training and finds out where you will be stationed. then you can get everything organized, packed and ready to move with him. hopefully your first station will be stateside. it won't be so overwhelming. good luck!

army wife for 12 years...soldier for 6!
