Haha this is a rather silly question but kinda serious. I hate to admit I like McDonald's. I go there for lunch about twice a week...I love their Tea. Anyway, one day I was sitting here and I got an ad that if filled out some questions I could win a $25 McDonald's gift card. Going against me knowing better I filled it out. And now I CANNOT stop receiving Spam mail. I know it had everything to do with that McDonald's because that is the only place I have ever put my email! Now I'm wondering if I should call and complain and tell them to give me my gift certificate. lol this is not a joke. I know they'll probably laugh at me but it's the least they can do right? Would they do anything?

Has anyone ever accomplished anything by calling a company in a similar case?

It is quite likely that McDonald's did not have anything to do with that ad. Just like spammers, there are all kinds of bogus offers on the web making promises they can't/won't keep. The intention is to get your email address so they can spam you. As you've discovered. I set up an email I use specifically for giving out on offers and websites for newsletters and stuff. That way, I only have to check it so often and I can just disregard all the spam without having to look for real email. I have another account I give out only to people I really want to talk to. I'm afraid McDonald's isn't going to help you, although if you cause enough rucuss in the store, they might not invite you back... :)

As odious as I find spam to be, I've been told by many people that the worst thing you can do is click on a link within the email, even an unsubscribe link, because that confirms to the spammer that it is a valid address, which will increase, rather than decrease, the amount of spam you receive. Hitting "reply" and putting "unsubscribe" in the subject line does the same thing - merely verifying for the sender that fact that they've reached a valid email address.

Your best bet is to change your name, dye your hair, and move to Timbuktoo...although I'm not so sure they couldn't find you even there!

I don't know if it would do you personally any good, but if many people were to call and complain then I really think that they would have to do something about...so if other people haven't started you could get the ball rolling. Either way they should not be sharing your e-mail address it is a breach of privacy and I definately would complain.

Hon, all you can do is try....it doesn't hurt to try at all. but to stop the spam mail...scroll to the bottom and there should be a link that says "to stop getting these emails" or press the reply button and put "unsubscribe" in the subject.

you prob. did a "step two" offer witch gives out the chance to win if you complete a bunch of offers and contacting McDonald's wouldn't help ....just unsub. at the bottom of all the emails you recive that should work
