I have a litter box that sometimes she will go in and sometimes not. What is really frustrating is that I can't leave anything fabric like on the floor or she will go on that. We no longer have rugs on our hardwood floors or in our bathroom to try to keep her going in the litter box. We keep the litter box clean. She goes there sometimes but sometimes not. I can't figure her out.

After you've cleaned the little box, take a couple if "pinches" of catnip and sprinkle it over the littler. It might entice her to use it more frequently.

You DO have to kinda scrunch it with your fingers to release the scent.

I had a cat like that. The litter was always clean due to the fact she never would use it.I used all the litter box`s and all the litters availible and even used dirt. She just refused to go in a litter box.Any paper, clothes, towels or plastic that would be on the floor she would pee or mess on.My husband could be reading the news paper and go to turn the paper to the next page and if the funnys or advertisement fell out she would be on that paper within 20 seconds to go on it.I took her to the vet several times and she always had a clean bill of health. As a mother of 6 I could no longer have this because she was also going on their beds.I even locked her in the bathroom all day and she thought the tub was a good place to use it.I had to get rid of her.It got to the point where I was cleaning up after a cat all day and night. My vet said some cats just wont use a litter box no matter what you try.I worked with that cat for 2 long annoying years.I do miss her but not her bad ways.

She could have a urinary problem and can not get to her litter box in time.

What type of litter box do you have. Cats like their privacy, so covered litter boxes are more appealing to them, they also have some with little swing doors.

Also, it could be the litter that you are using. Some litter's scent are too overwhelming for cats...or the litter itself could be hard on her feet. Things like things can deter a cat from using the litter box.

My cats used to not go in the litter box. Finally I just started letting them go outside. My answer to your question is it may be the Litter that you are using. Some cats don't like the scented litter. and some cats do not like the clumping litter. Are you using the same litter each time? Hopefully this answers your question.

The previous answers were great, but to add to that a little, I use the unscented cat litter, as one of my cats seemed to have allergies when I used the scented ones.

Also, for a little extra protection for my catildren, I give them cranberrry extract once a week and have had not a single UTI problem since. You can get this at pet stores or online.

maybe, she dosen't like thew brand of litter or litter box she's in. cats want to be alone when they go to the bathroom. the smell of the litter might also bother her. also, she might have an infection or something that is causing bladder urges, if this is the case, take her to the vet and get maybe one more litter box just in case. good luck!

You sparkling it each day? Do you also spray a disinfectant into the field and wipe it out? you would attempt doing that, too. I sparkling my cats' (5 cats) bins another day. i exploit Odo-ban to wipe out the bins and that i exploit a deoderizer, like Tidy Cat or Baking Soda earlier pouring the clutter in. This cuts down on the smell immensely. the lavatory is an both undesirable idea, because it receives moist and moist in there... plus, what if Kitty has to apply the field, at the same time as someone is taking a bath? If the field is sparkling, there truly isn't any well-being reason to save the field out of your room. My niece has a clutter field in her room for her little cat that loves in straight forward words her. **EDIT** Having cats, ability putting up with a particular quantity of smell... you also would favor to save a window open... in case you take advantage of clumping clutter, scoop, usually, besides to replacing the field each day. also, what styles of meals are you feeding your cat? supply her dry foodstuff strictly, and stay away from canned foodstuff, as canned foodstuff makes for smellier poo. also, dry foodstuff is better ideal for the lengthy-time period well-being of your cat's tooth. the in straight forward words way the cat field might want to have urine ammonia construct-up, is that if you're not from now on replacing AND cleansing the litterbox on a daily basis or frequently. it really is area of the duty of cat possession.

maybe she just cannot remember that she is supposed to use the bathroom in her litter box and if she is a kitten then you should probably encourage her and give her treats when she does go to the bathroom in her box and maybe when she starts getting rewarded she will remember to go to the bathroom in her litter box.

Is the litterbox clean? Is it located in a place where your cat feels safe? My cat is terrified of the washing machine so I cannot put her box in the laundry room. Do you have more than one cat? Have you moved to a new home lately? All of these things could be factors.
