Kids have been playing with toy guns for many centuries. If they don't have toys they will use fingers. Toy guns are not why kids kill kids or adults kill adults. Lack of proper supervision is why kids get into trouble and kill others.
Lack of education and tollerance/acceptance/understanding of different cultures is why adults kill.

Toy makers , make, what the parent will buy. But in modern culture, anything can be a toy gun,ie a stick ,a pen.etc.. Kids will play guns if they have them or not. They are influenced by what they see on TV, movies etc. Even the cartoons have guns.

I don't allow my child to play with guns, toy or imaginary (or real). The first time she pretended to shoot something I told her (in a very firm, mom-like voice) No, we do not play like that! Whe she got older I was able to explain to her that guns are used to kill things. She saw this Little Audry cartoon where audry killed a baby bird with a bb gun. Ever since then she even repremands her baby cousin when he tries to play guns. I've never understood why parents let their children play with toy guns. If parents stopped buying them, manufacturers would stop making them. Good question, man.

I don't allow my kids to play with toy guns for just that reason. It's up the parents. Companies make them because people buy them. Supply and demand.

Because we like to pass the blame for such things.
These people state that guns don't kill people, hmm, that's funny. I've never shot a bullet out of my finger...
Perhaps it's the lenient attitude parents (such as them) take towards guns, that desensitizes children to the reality that they are dangerous weapons, not fantasy playthings.
Where I live, I have never seen a gun. NEVER. I don't find that odd or unlikely for the majority of people in my city. I dislike them very much, and understand that they are NOT a necessity of life that we should just learn to deal with. I do not allow toy guns, I do not like toy guns, and when my child is old enough to recognize one and asks about it, I'll tell her that they are dangerous, evil, and absolutely unnecessary.
Oh I bet this will be one unpopular answer, and there in lies the problem. People these days are just too "gun friendly", and just look at where that has gotten us...

that aint the problem ........ the problem is a lack of moral values in this country ........ guns dont kill people , people kill people ....The real question is should we out law video games and rap music .the two main things that make the morals of our kids go to pot .......I think ignarance like this is also part of the problem ....they had toy guns long before the world was the way it is now ......I think you have missed something here

Funny story - My mom didnt want my little brother (4 1/2 years younger than me) to play with toy guns. She didnt allow them in the house and she didnt let him play with them at friends houses/grandmas etc...
My little brother made toy guns out of legos and used my barbies as guns and made his own sound effects.
Its our culture, and its just the way it is. As long as we have had war, we will have little boys wanting to play with toy guns. (Im sure this has been forever, back when they used swords to fight wars, Im sure little boys played with swords)

Teach your children the value of life...
children have played with guns for years...playing with guns as a child does not make someone commit crimes of any kind. Children who grow up without guidance, discipline and love are more likely to become criminals.
Guns do not kill....the losers holding them do the damage
