That's about how it effected me. Out of 19 different psych meds I've been on at one time or another, it is the only one I had trouble not abusing. So I recommend using it with caution in that regard, although it doesn't sound like you like the way it makes you feel "funny".
It seemed to be much more effective for my adult ADHD than Concerta was, I had pretty much no side effects with Concerta (and no problem with wanting to abuse it.)
The extended release should not keep you up all night if you are taking it once in the morning. Despite what the drug company says, it really only lasts about 8 hours.
My son has been on Adderall for several years and it works very well for him. It's the difference of night and day when he's taken it and when he hasn't.

I am currently taking Adderall for Adult ADD, and I find that it is the best med for me. I do get somewhat irritable when I am coming off of it sometimes, but it's very manageable. It may diminish your appetite too, so keep an eye on when you need to eat.
I recommend against the XR, because it just lasts toooo loooooong and you will have trouble sleeping for sure. But, the standard (non XR) version requires more diligence with regard to dosage and when you take it. Your Psychiatrist will be able to best diagnose which medication to put you on.

Yes I am, and yes those are the side effects (amphetamines, y'know).
If it bothers you, you might try one of the extended release ADD drugs like Adderall XR or the Ritalin equivalent. The effect is a little less noticable.

I was on it and I hated it! on top of being not hungery and Thirsty all the time it made me VERY irritable. I woke up mad and i went to bed mad, so i had my Dr. take me off of it.. I take ritalin now and it works great for me. I've heard alot of good things about concerta also... Good Luck and if you don't like how it makes you feel, tell your dr. they should be able to find something that works for you!
