We do both.
Sometimes we do both to make fools of these "men of science".

Happened in my family.
Morons couldn't even draw blood, let alone come up with a cure.
We prayed, she was healed - miraculously and the Docs got a witness to add to their wall of diplomas.

I have successfully done both. While it is true that prayer can bring healing by faith, it is also true that God gave man the ability to become Doctors. By becoming a Doctor you pledge to help and try to heal the sick. Jesus healed the sick as well, don't you think that it is great that Jesus would let Doctors be able to obtain ways of healing as well. Its not done by miracles per say, but God is still providing us with care.

During the Exodus, if the Israelites had not done has God told them to help themselves from being killed during passover, they would have died from not following instructions and accepting the way to protect themselves that God provided. If you do not know the story - I am referring to when the Blood of a Lamb was put around the doorways so that death would not come on any in the house with that protective provision in place.

Because as the old saying goes, "the Lord helps those who help themselves." If God has provided us a world in which we have the intellect to develop great skills in the healing arts, obviously the first people he'd be inclined to help would be those prudent enough to avail themselves of it.

There's an old joke I love, that speaks to the heart of this.

A man of great faith lived next to the Skagit River which was projected to crest higher that the roof of his house. As the rain poured down and the water reached the first floor windows a couple sheriff's deputies came by in a row boat. "Come on, you have to get out of here or you'll be killed!"

"Don't worry I have faith; I'll be fine", he replied.

They rowed off. Two hours later a Coast Guard boat happened by and the water was up to the second floor windows.

"Come on, let's get out of here", the crew yelled.

"No I have faith, and I'm staying", the man yelled back.

Another hour past and the water had covered all but one corner of the roof where the man was sitting when a National Guard helicopter flew up and hovered nearby. The crew gestured for the man to get in.

"No I have faith", he yelled and waived them away. They shrugged and flew off. The water continued to rise, the man was swept away and drowned.

As he approached the Good Lord he asked perplexed, "I had faith why did you let me drown?"

God replied, "What the heck more do you want? I sent two boats and a helicopter!!"

We do both. Yes God can heal and does often but have you ever seen a surgeon work? I believe that God gave them a talent to use to heal the sick. Also there are several documented cases where a Dr. has given up but yet a patient was healed inexplicably. God puts people into our lives for a reason. A doctor can be a blessing or we could be a blessing to a doctor.

God gave Man the brains to discover the wonders of His world, including medicine. By your logic, I might as well pray for the darkness to go away, instead of turning on the lights!

A person should do both. How can we say to God "Why didn't you cure my disease?" when he could easily say "I gave you doctors, but you would not use them." God's gifts are not always miraculous. Often, they are very plain.

God never intended for us to refuse to do anything for ourselves relying on him entirely. If he had, he would not have said so often that he approves of hard work. Why should we work if we have faith that God will provide for us? Yet, it says that he who doesn't work, should not eat. Consider...

Mat 4:7 Jesus said to him, "Again it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

Also

Mat 12:39 But he answered them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

Faith is not seeking miracles or insisting that God do what we could do ourselves.

Faith healing you mean?

its crap, it doesn't happen anymore, the work of healing (physical illnesses) has been finished during the time of the apostles.

“Whether there are gifts of prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with. For we have partial knowledge and we prophesy partially; but when that which is complete arrives, that which is partial will be done away with.”—1 Corinthians 12:28-31; 13:8-10.

It is just reasonable to go to a doctor who knows more than a faith healer does.

We believe in doctors. There is a difference between having faith in God, and tempting God To expect God to do what we ourselves are capable of doing, is tempting Him. Of course we pray for God's healing also.

BTW: The Gospel according to Luke and the Book of Acts were written by a physician.

You're right-if 99% of biologists are wrong about evolution then surely 99% of their colleagues in medicine are equally crap at their job so why would a religious fundamentalist ever trust a doctor?

Because praying might help, but it's not going to magically fix everything. Maybe God is really calling for the sick child to come home, then there is nothing no one can do.

He gave us this life, and he can take it away.

Allah has given some ways to follow in life.....Well he has given us food when we feel hungry....... he has given water when we feel thurst, same he has given knowledge of medicine for the cure of diseases.....Well this brain and knowledge is also from God.humen are no one to get skilled in it but they know only what God has given them.........Doctors are the way to cure the disease on the will of God.......and if God's will doen't favour it then even a doctor become helpless.... BTW i believe in both.Pray and treatment.
