No. You can burn fat and build muscle. The more muscle you have the quicker fat will be burned while working out. Good luck. And good job on choosing a healthier life style. :)

You can build your muscles up by weight training (and enough protein), but if you want to lose the fat, you also need some cardio workout at appr 100 - 150 pulse. Building muscle and losing fat are 2 separate things!

You cannot transfer fat cells to muscle, oh that we could. You can grow more fat cells and once they are there you can never get rid of them, but never fear all is not lost. The fat cells will shrink with diet and excercise, and cardio, as long as you are not too overweight is your best bet. Visit your G.P for a medical and explain that you would like to start on a fitness regime, he will then help with diet and a plan so you will not over exert yourself and cause any damage. Am glad you are getting fit, good luck.

Building muscle will help you lose fat.

Muscle uses fat as it's primary food source. It will use that food source even when you are resting. You build more muscle, then it consumes more fat on a daily basis.

Cardio exercises are good for fat reduction, but they are primarily for helping your heart by reducing LDL cholesterol and raising the HDL cholesterol levels in the bloodstream.

muscle and fat are two different things. so, not exactly. You can perform aerobic and weight building exercises that will help build muscle and decrease fat, but fat and muscle are separate substances.

weight training will sue fat as energy, but cardio mainly uses fat it will burn more off, cardio is good to do i reccomend it..

but you can build your body up with just weight training to. cardio is mainly for fat and works slow twitch mucle fibers that are there for endurance. mainly it just tones you and cuts fat.

Yes, when you work out, work out with heavy weights and low repetitions. That will help build mass. If you want to get lean, work out with lighter weights and more repetitions. Cardio also helps you get lean, not more massive.
