Ford makes them. And I read the Chrysler now makes a really GREAT police car to compete with Ford.

You legally cannot own a police car NEW from the factory, but once the police department retires one, usually after only 1 year, with less than 35,000 miles, you can buy it. One good site is CopCars.com.
Look up used police cars on the internet.

I use to have a used Chevrolet Caprice police car. I sold it after 9 years and 680,000 miles! Three years later the couple that bought it from me are still driving it.

Then I bought a used Chrysler police Intrepid. I got 287,000 miles out of it before a lady crashed head-on into my car, destroying it. 95 mph crash. I walked away without a scratch. PS she had no insurance so I got NO MONEY from her.

I am looking forward to when the Chrysler police car - used - becomes available to the public. I read it is better than the Ford.

Most police cars are offered by the mainstream auto makers as a specific verson of an existing model available to law enforcement agencies. For example, general motors offers Impalas modified for law enforcement use with the "RPO" (Regular Production Option) codes of "9c1" (regular marked squad car) and "9c3") (unmarked undercover squad car). An agency wishing to order one of these cars can contact any Chevrolet dealer and order an Impala with either RPO and receive a brand new squad car. The agency, of course, is responsible for painting it and putting the flashing lights and other equipment on the car.

In the same plants where they make regular cars. The only difference is the heavier duty equipment they install on the police models.
