well i agree the organization of any religion is corrupt. that is why there is some much turmoil over. once you let someone tell you how to believe, see, feel, think, interpret, or anything you are no longer free you are everything man has fought to be free from.

I know of no "openly gay" (meaning known to be in a homosexual relationship) serving the Church. It is not a sin to be gay, but it is a sin to have sex outside of marriage.
Known pedophiles have been removed from public ministry.
Covering up incidents and fraud can be found in nearly all churches because people make up the church and people sin.
On the other hand, look at the hospitals, homeless shelters, women's shelters, crisis pregnancy centers, emergency relief agencies, and schools that are run by the Catholic Church. Add to that the courages stances on abortion, euthenasia, the death penalty, workers rights, human rights, snd immigration.
The Catholic Church is doing much more good than harm for Christianity.

And it is truly amazing how wrong Mel is about the Catholic Church. She should be ashamed of herself for such ignorance.

firstly, openly gay (homosexual) persons what does that mean?
If you are trying to say why does the Catholic Church love homosexual people well its because God is love and Catholics are instructed to strive to imitate Jesus Christ so love all people.
If however you are accusing Catholicism for encouraging homoseuxal lifestyles which are viewed as a sin by the Church
than you are frankly, ignorant of what the Catholic Church really teaches.
Some non-catholic groups claiming to be Christian teachers (usually lower church fundamentalists) teach this idea of already being perfected Christians on earth which was never taught by the apostles or early Christians. The apostles taught there are both sinners and saints in the Church on earth as we are being perfected for our possible afterlife with Jesus in heaven. Many times the newly created language that these teachers use such as already being "saved" meaning having received your final salvation (without being judged by Jesus) is a false understanding. They contribute to the ignorance of others by instructing one moment of your life has already given you final salvation when in fact salvation is a process that includes your entire life and that is why Jesus give the meaningful teaching of repenting of future sins. You must think Jesus tells us meanless instructions based on your assumptions of what it is to be Christian.
I think the Catholic Church has the complete answers non-Catholics claiming their own Christianity are missing and as far as other-Christians looking like hypocrits well I think they do a good job all on their own see www.reformation.com.
I'll assume you are very young and not very knowledgable so forgive me for my frankness but get educated please
late addition: I was wondering if mx3baby could explain who decides what is a bible truth?
Mel re:confession of sins, try reading John 20:20-22, you need to learn the English language better also. Prayer in its simplest definition means to ask, to request. In old english many times you'll read the phrase "pray tell" does that mean godly worship? No of course not and therefore Catholics do not make Mary God as you imply when accusing them of prayer to Mary. Prayer to Mary is like prayer to TammySue down at your bible chapel. Whenever an evangelical asks for prayer from another person they are doing the samething as when a Catholic requests prayer from Mary. My question is why are there so many people who on the internet who speak on Christianity and know so little about it? Don't make comments about Catholicism when you haven't studied it!

When Jesus established His church while still on Earth with mankind, he included Judas Iscariot in the originial 12 apostles. He knew all along that Judas would betray him--but did that mean that Judas should not be given the chance to learn about and love the Lord?
The same is true in today's church as much as it was in the times of Christ. Although I do not think that such scandelous persons are as statistically common as 1 in 12 anymore, that certainly does not mean that there are not "Judases" among Jesus's church and true followers.

Let me clarify a few things... catholicism and Christianity are two totally different things, you may as well be comparing Christianity to Judaism! Christian is defined as believer of Christ, nothing more, nothing less. Catholicism is in direct opposition to the bible, whether they want to see it or not. Confession in itself is a sin, in the bible it says "If you confess your sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive your sins and cleanse you of all unrighteousness"... 1st John 1:9. It doesn't say anything anywhere in the bible about going to a man, confessing your sins, having that man judge your sins and then maybe being forgiven, depending on the priests mood. Oh and of course the person that you're confessing to is celibate and closed off from the outside world and hasn't had any real life experience and is living vicariously through the stories of sin that they hear day in day out, no wonder they end up being homosexual and acting out... it's what they hear all day, every day. And praying to the virgin Mary... HELLO! that's breaking one of the ten commandments... praying to another god, worshiping anybody other than God is a sin! Their whole religion is based around sin.
So in conclusion, Catholicism is a religion, Christianity is a way of life, not one in the same and yes they ought to be ashamed of themselves.

I've felt very strongly that way before... You just have to understand the entire Catholic church is not that bad, just the bad people in it overshadow the good. I love Catholics, and some of the most Jesus-loving people I know are Catholics. But..I do disagree with some of the theology.

Any church is made of of human beings who are flawed, make mistakes, do terrible things to each other, etc. etc. etc. If you are Christian, just keep being Christian and don't judge other people.

I don't want Christianity represented by the Catholic Church.
Many of the things that are taught are not scriptural.
