How long does amoxicillin remain in your system?

i am asking because i am on birth control and i know antibiotics could alter the effectiveness of the pill. i am taking three pills a day and i will be finished tommorow- i am using a back up method but i just want to make sure i wait long enough after i take my last amoxicillin pill to rely on the bc pills.

amoxicillin has a very short half-life, approx. 1 hour (if you have normal kidney function). it should be eliminated within 5-6 hours from the last dose (bad kidneys= approx. 60-70 hours).
just to be safe, i would recommend using back up birth control for a few days after.

Amoxicillian is a form of pennicillian and should remain in your system a few days after your last pill. In the mean time use a back of form of birth control along with your BC pills.

You're really pushing you luck here. Did you know that sometimes drug testers can't differentiate between ibuprofen metabolites and cannabis metabolites? If you have a urine test and it comes back positive you can lie your way out of it and just say that you've been taking ibuprofen because they won't be able to prove otherwise, they'll just have to take your word for it but if they do a blood test though, you are screwed because they use more advanced techniques to determine which metabolite it is between the two so good luck, you are going to need it.

normally, a medicine, it doesnt matter what generic it is usually stays on the blood for a good 72 hours. even if you try to donate blood, you have to wait for 72 hours or 3 days before blood is extracted from you because the medicine is still strong on the blood line.

I belive you only take antibiotics for one week, it stays in your system for about a month, but with birth control, i have no idea!
