Lots of water (2 litres a day), fibre in the diet (vegetable fibre is best), apples and an all round varied diet. Warm teas are also helpful for relief. Stay away from pills and other artificial means.
Get a decent nights sleep and relax as constipation is often caused/aggravated by stress.

Start by warming up water and squeezing fresh lemon juice in it. If that doesn't work, and this will sound gross, but mix prune juice with milk of magnesium and warm it up, and drink it. If you still don't go to the bathroom, that means you are impacted, rather than constipated. If this is the case, you should give yourself a home enema or go see your doctor (but after a check-up, he/she will probably just give you an enema anyway, so trying it at home first could save you a lot of money). If an enema doesn't fix it, you should definitely see your doc pronto!

Flax-meal is a bulk fibre, you can buy it in the health food store, mix it with fruit juice, I do this every morning,works like a charm
