"Adam" is the old Hebrew for "man." "Eve" means "woman." They are clearly meant to be archetypes.
At some point, someone (and the mitochondrial evidence suggests a very certain someone) was the first common ancestor of everyone living today. Modelling the breeding that got from there to here is obviously more complex than suggesting two people issued the entire species, but it has effectively worked out that way.
People were once clever hominids. Something changed - a being that could chip stone into hand-axes became a being who could paint exquisite pictures on cave walls. Who can say that the first such truly spiritual being is not also close to being that mitochondrial ancestor?

Well, yes. But you have to understand, since they were created perfect, there was no chance of bad genes getting passed to their offspring. Once sin entered the picture, so did diseases, genetic flaws, etc. These accumulated with each generation, so the earliest generations didn't have much to worry about. Siblings could marry and have children with no problem. When God gave Moses the Law, he included laws about close relations marrying because by that time the genetics flaws had accumulated to the point that there was a high chance of close relations having the same ones and thus passing them to their children. So yes, we all reproduce with our relatives, but the closer the relation the more likely something will go wrong.

Adam and Eve are not historical characters. Genesis is a narrative, not factual.

Yeah, but see, God didn't call incest a sin until after Moses and the Ten Commandments, and all of those Laws were set. So it wasn't wrong or immoral before that. It was necessary.

Yes, but that's only an issue where deleterious recessive genes are present.
KNOW YOUR SCIENCE!
Sad how many atheists and agnostics don't know squat about science.
