What does it matter? I just wish my pain threshold was higher. I have cracked a few ribs and it really hurts... a lot!

Or maybe I'm just whinging because I'm a man and can't handle pain.

Most people mistakenly believe women because of childbirth, but this is not a long term event and it's unlikely to result in a higher pain threshold, check the studies and you will find men do have a higher threshold of pain in general.

I have a chronic disease and it's resulted in a higher pain threshold over time, but believe me I would gladly go through labor multiple times if I could be cured.

Wow, this is a very tricky question. No matter what someone's answer is they will hear about it from the other sex!
Out of my own personal experience, I would have to say women. We give birth and that is one of the most painful experiences you can have. And just think..some of us do it 2, 3, 4, 5 times!!
Also, women are mothers, regardless if they are sick or not. If I have the flu then I STILL have to do the laundry, cook dinner, take care of the children, do the dishes, etc.
My husband on the other hand, who is a lot larger and "stronger" than I am, will be layed out on the couch for one week. He can't deal with anything while sick.
Almost every man I know is like this. While every woman just keeps on trucking and being a mom.
So, my vote goes to women!

This is ridiculous to think pain and gender are linked. Pain is individual, everyone has a different nervous system and different tolerances . Some women have easy births, while others are in agony. I walked around on a broken foot for three weeks and didn't notice it. The doctor wanted to ray my foot , because it was lack ad blue and found my foot was broken. My sister and brother have to take meds for pain, because they cat handle much pain equally. Pain is individual. Let's stop these gender wars.

Women do. We have to cope with child birth, pms pains, taking care of our children while running a house hold. Im sure men are STRONGER but woman definitly have a higher PAIN THRESHOLD.

I'd say women, men would have a higher pain threshold if every summer they had to pour hot wax over their neither regions and rip out half their thatch.

As a women who has given birth, I used to say women. Then I discovered that to remove penile warts they insert a little closed umbrella up the urethra, open it and pull it downwards to scrape off the warts.

I'd have to say men.

Women. When tested, men can bear greater pain but men have less pain receptors than women so they don't feel it as bad

I believe that it is women, but as I understand, redheads have a lower pain threshold than most, require more anestesia, etc
