It is normal any time there was a change. Usually it happens if there is a new pet or if you have just moved or just been on a trip, but it could also happen if you have started to work significantly more or less hours, if you have drastically rearranged the furniture, or done a really thorough cleaning of the house (where the house smells very different). Feliway sprays and plug-ins from your local pet store can be helpful if your cat is adjusting to a change. They emit comforting scents to help your cat feel safer and not as scared of any unusual smells.
If you can't identify a big change that your cat could be trying to adjust to, or if she stops eating, I'd take her to the vet to rule out a medical problem, because when cats are sick, they tend to pull away, rather than being really vocal about it. In the meantime, leave her to her space and she'll come out when she feels comfortable again, it might be helpful to her to put something that smells like her, like one of her blankets or toys in one of her favorite hiding places, or to give her something that smells like you.

I would take her to the Vet.Cats hide when they are scared, in pain, or sick.Your Vet could give your cat a check up to rule out health reasons.DO you have other pets?It may want to hide from them to get some sleep or feel more secure about it's surroundings. Good Luck

Probably. Kittens go through all sorts of silly phases, it's most likely nothing to worry about. However, if this behavior carries on for more than a week or is combined with lack of eating call your vets office and ask if you should bring her in for an appointment.

She may be getting ready to go into her first heat and may not feel that great. It could be lots of things, enviropnmental, physiologic, or just kitty stress. Just keep an eye on her and as said before, take her to the vet if she stops eating
I don't know your location, but can tell you that mine hide if there is any earthquake activity, even ones we can't feel.

I agree with the previous person. Cats do hide when there is something wrong with them. An exam by a vet should be done
Good luck!

Kitties are like that. Has she been Spayed/Fixed? (probably not) It's getting near that time you need to make that choice. If she goes into heat her health and personality will go wonky. She needs to be fixed before she goes into heat, because when she goes into heat it might trigger health problems.
