"Frontline Plus"

First let me tell you that I own a pest control company and what I will recommend is the complete treatment that should help you completely get rid of the fleas.

First, treat the dog with Capstar. This is a pill that will kill all of the fleas that get on the dog for the first 24 hours. Second, use either frontline or advantage. I usually tell people to switch back and forth between the two because there are two different types of fleas that are common on dogs and frontline works better on the one type and advantage works better on the other.

Once the dog has been treated, you must treat your home and yard. The best products to do this would include not only a killing agent, but also a sterilization agent. Inside, I would use Ultracide, if you can get it. (Many online sites sell it.) Outside I would use Demon with Gentrol or Nylar. Treating your house is just as important as treating the dog!

If Frontline or Advantage work for your dog I would use one of those products. I have two dogs that are sensitive to both products, moreso to the Frontline. I started them on BioSpot which I got at PetSmart. It is pleasant smelling and not toxic to the dogs like the others were and it has been very effective against fleas.
If you are infested with fleas you will need to treat your yard, your house and your dog. House and yard may need several treatment to effectively get rid of the fleas. One way you can test to see if fleas are in your home is to take a white paper towel and put it on the floor or a sofa or dog bed, or all three areas and wait a minute. You may notice fleas, which are tiny, jumping onto the paper towel.
At a feed store or pet store, there is a product called "Adam's Flea Spray" which you can spray on the bottom of your clothing which repels fleas from jumping on your pants and "hitchhiking" into your house from an outside area. This is good to do when walking your dog around the neighborhood.

Frontline and Advantage are monthly products that really do work to kill fleas. Frontline Plus and Advantix also offer protection against ticks. All are available only from vets and pharmacies, but you don't need a prescription, and the vet doesn't need to see your dog to dispense it. Once you start using it, you should use it every month or the problem will come back. Some people are tempted to use it for just one month because it works so well, but they often end up with a flea problem again. Be sure to treat all pets in the house, including indoor cats (be sure to use products labeled specifically for cats- dog products such as Advantix and Frontline Plus are toxic to cats). It would also help to treat the house. Vacuum thoroughly and put the stuff you vacuumed up outside so the fleas don't crawl back out. If you have a bad problem, use Raid for fleas (in the purple can). Spray around the edges of rooms and under the furniture, even under the furniture cushions. This is a lot more effective than bombs, and exposes people and pets to less poison than bombs. Rabbits, squirrles, and rats all carry fleas, so even dogs who only go outside for a few minutes can get them. Good Luck!!

Depends on where your fleas are. If you mean on a dog...go to the vet. Over the years, I tried lots of stuff over the counter, the only thing that worked for us is Frontline, available only by prescription or ordered online from another country. I recommend buying it from the vet though. If the fleas are in the carpet, vacume real good, get some borax powder and sprinkle it all over the carpet. It will need to sit overnight. The borax takes the hydration out of the fleas and kills them. To keep your dog flea-free, I recommend bedding with cedar shavings, found in the rodent section of pet stores because fleas can't live in cedar. Wash their bedding and bathe your dog about every 2 weeks with dog shampoo. Don't bathe them too much though or the skin will dry out. ;) Hope this helped

For our dogs, Frontline has worked well. It keeps the fleas totally at bay for us.

there are many good flea products on he market that kill fleas, lice and ticks such as Frontline and Frontline Combo which also protects the house by rendering eggs in the environment as infertile (will still hatch but be unable to reproduce)
i would certainly recommend a veterinary licensed flea control product. they are legally allowed to be strong enough to kill fleas and are dose dependent on weight. supermarket products are not licenses so are not legally allowed to be strong enough to kill fleas - they only repel.
other products such as 'Advocate' are the newest product out on the market, that in dogs protect against - fleas, larvae, ticks, ear mites, heart worm, round worm, ear mites and various mange mites such as sarcoptes and demodex. a very good whole round flea control available from your vet.
