A machine sprays it on you while you stand in a little make-shift room. You stand in front of the sprayers while they spray up and down your body. Then you turn around and it does your back side the same way.

It is not harmful in any way. In fact, it is the safest way to get that golden tanned look. Way better than baking yourself with UV rays in those tanning beds.

I am a very fair skinned person who prefers the spray on tan, especially because of my family history of skin cancer. I really like the Mystic Tan, you can find out information at http://www.mystictan.com to find a location near you. This is the type that you go into a little booth, it sprays the front of you, then you turn around and it sprays your other side. These tans last from three to five days depending on how often you shower. There aren't any short-term harmful effects except for the nasty taste if inhaled, however the long-term effects of the chemicals are unknown. I have been going to the Mystic Tan for the last three years on average twice a month and haven't had any problems. The cost can vary from $10 - $30 a visit. Good luck!

No it's not harmful. It does not contain any UV rays which is what is harmful in the tanning beds. And it just depends on where you go as to whether someone does it or a machine does it. If you go to an upscale tanning salon then most likely it will be a machine but if you choose to go the more cost effective route then it will most likely be someone that actually does it.

No, it's not harmful (I even did it when I was pregnant - 2 different pregnancies, and everything was fine!), and it is the machine that does it. They say it's mostly a sugar solution.

You walk into a metalic type cubicle, hold your breath (and close your eyes) for the 9 seconds that it takes, and lift your legs a little, one at a time, of course ;) so that the tanning solution gets everywhere. The solution sprays from many different little nozzles to cover your whole body.

You then step out of it (it's like a shower 'compartment' that it is done in - clear glass door incl.), and dab yourself with a towel to make sure that the solution does not run, and is evenly distributed all over your body.

'Tis quick and easy, really.

Mystic Tan -

You stand in a booth and hoses spray you. I have yet to see someone look natural with this tan, everyone looks orange!! You should watch the FRIENDS episode where Ross goes mystic tanning and accidently only tans his front...it is so funny

Spray Tan -

I do this. You have to get over your fear of having another woman see your boobs (its their job, its no big deal!) You basically get naked except for a paper thong that they give you (or your own undies) and you stand in a room and she literally air brushes tan on you. Over the next 4 hours, your tan deepens. I like to do this before a big night, like a wedding/party/new years.

Store Bought Tan -

I do this also (for like 5 years now) and my friends and i have perfected the method...trust me, it works. First, buy a lotion tanning cream in DARK and also some regular skin lotion (any kind) Get some rubber gloves or plastic bags (this is the secret)
In your hand, mix half tanning lotion and half regular lotion and just apply to your body one part at a time. Take your time...like rub it in your legs for a long time and remember to get behind your knees and your heels and toes and between toes and undr your foot...dont miss an inch. Keep the gloves on until the end and then take them off and on the BACKS of your hands put a little dot of each lotion and rub the backs together then using your hands regular, blend the lotion up your wrists and VIOLA...a perfect tan when you wake up in the morning!

The gloves make a difference...if you dont use gloves, no matter how much you waash after applying the tanning cream, it still stays in the palms of your hands and doesnt go away for a long time...the gloves make sure that it is all absorbed where it is supposed to.

I got one done and you go into this little room, and the machine beeps and then starts spraying. Then you turn around and repeat the process. Its not harmful. If you think about it, its actually healthy compared to getting a real tan.

You can do it both ways. But if you want to get a GREAT job done, have a person do it. It will cost about $75-100, and it will be embarrassing. You will want to be nearly nearly nude and wearing old underpants. But this way, the results are perfectly even and they can apply more to certian area, making you look toned or sculpted. If you have a special event, it's worth it, but Mystic Tan is good too. Good luck! : )

I got the mystic tan once it left orange spots on me, the same with a friend of mine. But the biggest thing was I have my belly button peirced and when i got it done i asked them if i had to take it out n they said no. but it messed it up really bad it got infected bad. so make sure you find out about that befor you get a spray on tan if you have any peircings.

there are spray on tan in which you can buy from the store ,like wal-mart or target. no it dosen't hurtbut if you use to much of it the tan may come out a little orange and if you use it and lay out in the sun and use it to much it can cause skin cancer my aunt use to use spray on tanning that she got from the store and she use it all the time. she would also lay out in the sun after she appled it and she got skin cancer from it
