The first step would be to realize that there can be a meaning without a God. It's just a different meaning than if you believe in a God.
Instead of spending this life preparing for an afterlife focus on living this life to the fullest. You have plenty of time in this life and you can do a lot of amazing things and make a difference. You can enjoy life without a God. You just have to learn to live for yourself and fellow humans instead of a deity.
No, drugs are not the answer. Do you really want to screw up and waste the only life you get, cause harm to yourself and others and be miserable? That does not sound like a good solution to me, it won't solve a thing.

Does life truly have no meaning without god? Consider this: you got a computer some time ago and that action eventually led to your posting this question which has, in turn, affected all of our lives who have stopped, read, and responded. In essence I'm saying that every tiny action you do affects more than just you. Chaos and 6 degrees of seperation... the "butterfly effect..." they say that your life has plenty of meaning. Your good deeds will be seen by many as will your bad. You influence people just by existing. So how to be happy? Remember that you only live once and every minute should be spent following "your bliss." What makes you happy? Chase it with all your energy because its all you'll have. also consider this: Create and keep hold of as many fond memories as you can now, so that you may look back on them when you are too old and decrepit to make new ones.

I try to enjoy the time i have here. It's short lived. Even though life is tough, it amazes me that we are even here. When i pass, anything i have done in this lifetime won't even matter because i won't be able to realize who cared about me or what they thought of me or any difference i might have made. I think all we can do is try to move forward so that our species will survive forever. One more thing. I have read that eventually the whole universe will cease to exist. Something about all the energy will burn itself out essentially and there will be nothing. Something like that anyway. I think that is dumb because some how we have come about out of nothing therefore i think there will always be something

That is a very deep question. Yes, life is ultimately futile. But what's wrong with enjoying it while it lasts?
The next question is what will bring you enjoyment. Drugs will, but you can't be high all the time (ok, you can be until you run out of money or die from it..). Just acting on all your impulses will send you towards self-destruction of one sort or another and away from true happiness. The only way to be truly happy is through doing good works and loving and being loved (but not only in the sexual sense. True love is important). Money and power are nice, but they aren't the same happiness as inner peace and contentment.

There is a lot of meaning in life. Assuming that no god means that life is nihilistic is totally unjustified. Your culture, family, friends, community, and hobbies are what give your life meaning, whether you are religious or not. Doing the right thing, pursuing knowledge, creating art and beauty, or even just being a hedonist are also all sources of meaning. I have been "happy" my entire life without ever believing in God. Even the value that religious people get from their religion is more from being a part of a tradition and community, I would say. Finally, even if you reject religion, that doesn't mean you can't see the world in religious or spiritualist terms. Nature can be seen in coldly scientific terms, or it can be seen in awe-inspiring pantheistic terms. Both are equally valid interpretations, and finding awe in the world doesn't require a god. The world is so beautiful it can be its own source of meaning, it doesn't require fairy tales to make it valuable.

No - you're at the best place ever for real spirituality. This is the place where a real search can begin-- removed from the projections and images that are called 'god'. And with the notion that there is really no meaning here. It's the foundation of people's real spiritual journeys. Check out '3 Pillars of Zen' for some good info on this (I'd recommend 'A Course in Miracles', too, but it can be easily misinterpreted so ...)

Drugs are never the best answer to anything except the question - "How do I ruin my life?"
If you can't find meaning through religion, then find it elsewhere. Get involved in your community, help people. Join a literacy group and teach illiterate adults to read. Join a boys and girls club and be a friend to a child who has lost a parent. Volunteer at a retirement home and spend time with elderly people whose families have forgotten them.
There are lots of ways you can make a difference, and find meaning in life. I wish you luck.

I don't need drugs- because I found out that the "void" in my life that I thought I would feel, went away when i rejected Religion and replaced it with rational thought. Funny what spaces a little intelligence can fill!
I wouldn't suggest drugs, fun as they are, you're stupid enough as it is and I don't think you'd be able to handle them.

Look around you.
Life is beautiful, there is love without god, there is happiness without god. I have no god yet I haven't embarked on a nihilistic, hedonistic orgy of depravity and pleasure.
I live a simple, happy life. I love my family and my family love me. I love my fiancee and plan to have a fulfilled future with her.
I don't do drugs and I don't sleep around. I don't smoke and only occasionally drink. I am godless and so fulfilled.
There is beauty in nature and beauty in the universe. And I appreciate my life now as I know this is it - I am not waiting on an imaginary paradise that will never come and I don't fear an imagined hell.
A very wise man said "Can't the garden be beautiful without magical fairies at the bottom of it?"
Peace and love!

Are you down because of your realization or is it something else? Get a new girlfriend or do something fun like going to six flags. Drugs are an easy out and will only complicate and further your depression.
