We have been good friends for years, but lately, she told a group of little girls that I am her boyfriend. She then told me what she had done later, and kept saying "Isn't that sooo funny?" The thing is we talked about being more than friends about two months ago, and we decided to stay friends. I told her she was my type which is why we got along so well. She has done other suspicious things since - but nothing like this. Is she hinting at me??

It is a good possibility that she is hinting at you. Maybe you should suggest that even though you agreed to remain friends you should try dating anyway.
Sometimes once an idea is in your head it plants the seed. Perhaps that seed is there for her and she just needs your help to germinate it.

Yeah, she is WAY hinting at you that she wants you to be her man. She is wishing it so bad that she is making up stories. Well, just ask her if that's what she wants and if that's what you want then handle it. SHe would love it! Because obviously she likes you.

Did she maybe mean Boy-Friend and not boyfriend?
You'll need to ask her. Also, go for it. I'm with my best friend and life doesn't get any better than this. I've never been even remotly this happy, ever.

My boyfriend was my best friend and it just turned into a relationship and now we are very happy and living together....
