Son is in white phase (5th week) of BCT at Fort Sill. The graduation dates posted say Jan 19th ( they started actual BCT on Nov 3rd) my question is..will that date be likely to change because of exodus? I've already purchased my airline ticket and booked the hotel because everything was booking up fast and there were only 4 seats left on the last flight and all the hotels in Lawton were sold out...HEartstrinGs maybe your hubby is one of my sons DI's :)

Heartstrings :) Thank you for checking on that. Funny how we are connected but on different ends of the spectrum. It sure is a small world.
I was really worried about my son going to BCT, well joining the army in general really, but all the letters home have been for the most part positive and upbeat. He said his DI took him out in the truck that hes going to be training in at AIT and showed him some gizmos. I thought that was great! But ssshhh I don't want my son smoked for that LOL :)

What an exceptional lady you are for checking into all this for me :) YES HE COMING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS!! WhooHoo. I've already purchased his plane ticket. Best $276 dollars I've ever spent.
I'm going to give you my email address so if you would like, we can continue this via email, I'd like that alot. You have such a wisdom and I know that as a new "military mom" i'm full of fear, and yet awe at this new life we've all begun since my son joined the army.

I'm sorry, but he's not. My hubby is on cycle break, thank goodness. However, I'm checking on this for you as we speak and I'll do an edit when I have your answer.

EDIT: I'm so happy to help in any way that I can. Military life comes full circle for many of us. We were the "young'uns", now, we're the "old folks". Never be afraid to ask questions. Military life is a life like none other and we ALL need support.

I really am glad you asked a question and specifically pointed me out. However, my info is pretty limited as of right now. Ft. Sill is closed due to our weather conditions. Hubby won't be able to check much until he goes back in. Anyways, this is what we have: 19 January should stand as graduation date. That would be 9 weeks BCT and 2 weeks exodus. We do fill up fast here and I'm glad you worked it all out ahead of time. Hubby is going to try to check on exact dates of exodus. Is your son coming home?? What a great present I'm sure that would be for you. I'm glad his letters are upbeat. That's a good sign. Most of the Drill's here are cool. We love all of them in our unit. They really want these guys to succeed. The phone number to the unit I think your son is in is (580) 442-1304. I'm sure you already have his number, but this is what I deducted from the info you've given. Your best bet is to call them....they do need to answer your questions. I know they don't like to be bothered by family members, but you have a lagit question and they can answer it. Since hubby is in a different unit, it's hard to get exact info other than knowing everything is on schedule for what's posted and that's the same he has.

Good luck and I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful. If I do find anything else out, I'll be sure to post it on here. Be sure to yell "HI" to me while you're in town!! I can't even begin to tell you what an awesome experience graduation will be. Enjoy!!

EDIT2: I wrote your e-mail addy down. How did you find me?? I haven't answered any other questions of yours and you seem to know me so well. Anyways, glad I can help and if I find anything else, you'll know about it.

breathe easy; they did factor it in. january 19th would take it to eleven weeks, two weeks extra.

of course, the army has been known to mess up graduation dates (they changed my ait graduation date twice). so i double-checked, just in case, and the dates match up:

Class Schedule
FY: 2007 School: 810 Course: 750-BT Phase: Course Length: 9 Weeks 1.0 Days
Course Title: BASIC TRAINING
Class Maximum: 220 Class Optimum: 200 Class Minimum: 100

Class Report Date Start Date End Date Class Capacity Class Type City State Zip

005 30 Oct 2006 03 Nov 2006 19 Jan 2007 220 Resident FT SILL OK 73503

good luck to your son. write him lots of letters and keep him motivated!

My son is a basic at Ft. Benning. He gets exodus from Dec 17th to Jan 3rd. I would not expect his graduation date to change because exodus is calculated into the schedule.

His graduation date will not change, it is calculated with Exodus. When I was there for Artillery school we had Exodus and many families were there visiting their future soldiers who were in Basic at the time.
