It depends on the person. If I cared about the person and I knew it was for my good. Because sometimes others can see bad ppl better than I can.
But if the person was just being overly dominating I would get away from him.
Whay do your parents/adults in your life think?

If my spouse told me to stop talking to "this girl/guy" then I probably would. BUT if this "guy/girl" was someone I deeply cared about, a good friend, or family member or something, then I would tell my lover that he needs to respect my judgement of the people i choose to associate with.

Aargh! The green monster rears its ugly head! Jealousy. Sounds like a control issue. Are you talking to this other person because you are entertaining a side item, or is it a friendship thing? Don't change your friends because your current wants you to. But, if lover wants exclusitivity and a relationship and is asking you not to seek anymore, then that's different too. Sounds like you two need to define the relationship.

Depends. I first would want to know why and is the person a older friend of the person/ exgirlfriend/boyfriend, or someone new. If this is a old friend I don't think that this would be fair to ask someone to stop being friends. NOw if it is a random person I just met I might stop talking.

personal i would not stop taking to someone just because my lover told me not, there would have to a reason why he want me to stop taking to this person. It could not be just because he does not like this person or he told me. You can let anyone pick and choose who you can and can not talk to just because they are in a relationship with you. If this person has done anything to hurt you are him or harm your relationship with him in anyway. It should not make a different who you talk to.

Depends on whether they had a legitimate concern. If the other guy was coming on to me, and I didn't really catch on (which happens), then when I see what my guy means, then I'd definitely stop talking to the other guy. If, on the other hand, my guy was just paranoid, thhen I'd give him a good reason to know that I am all his, and he has nothing to worry about - a little physical reassurance is all it takes. -_-

It would depend on why they wanted me to stop. If they were getting jealous or something, I'd try to quieten their fears. I have a right to talk to whomever I choose to, but I also want to make sure he's comfortable. If it was really bugging him, I'd tone back my relationship with that person, because, really, he's the most important person in my life.

if it was a past romantic interest probably maybe even a friend depending on how strongly I felt about my lover. Unless given an ultimatum I don't respond well to those.

Depends on who it was. An ex or someone they felt threatened by, I would depending on whether or not they were warranted. If it was someone like that I remained close to, I wouldn't just drop my friend for my boyfriend, I would try to get him to see he's not a threat (like hanging out with the two of them together). If it's someone he has no real reason to be jealous of (a family member, for example) I definitely wouldn't, he's just trying to be controlling.
