I've been a civil engineer for 18 years - career options are widely varied - utilities, water treatment, construction of anything, transportation (roads, traffic), facilities maintenance, management. Lots of opportunities to be outside rather than in the office. Civil engineering isn't the highest paying (start around $45k in US) but it has a long history of slow, steady growth. I'd recommend it.

I like civil work.
One of the great things about civil engineering is that you can can work in practically any geographical area, as even a small town needs a public works engineer.
Another thing is that you can work on small projects, single family home structural reviews, or huge projects, like the 'Big Dig'. Many engineers become surveyors and get licensed in both disciplines.
Should you choose civil, make sure you plan to get registered as a professional engineer. Without it, your options become limited.

The true market state is watching to gain some momentum.
The agencies level that provide the safest assignments are
opening the gate of civil in two areas I have heard of now. One
is the schools themselves, research is back in the frontier for
clear physicist work, as well as material upgrades. The topics
of conservation are making some new job services like laptop
radar studies, mineral refinements, large vendor application.
Solving civil engineering study questions in itself is getting too
thin with so many have gone into travel safety and moved to
resort locations. Trains, practical product group, and safer
land preservations are interested in new ideas. If your not
afraid of anything, anywhere, there is a good amount of trust
to put into the computer potency of upgrades, and housing.

It's acceptable, but if you want to be an engineer, I heard it's generally regarded lowly on the engineer totem poll, right above Industrial Engineer. I've heard that from Chemical and Petroleum Engineers, though. I'm a Computer Engineer, and I got nothing but respect for all engineers, so... go engineers.
ps, you gotta love math to do engineering
