I can't get rid of mine either. I am going back to my G.P tomorrow as I think my dose of thyroxine needs changing. I also have a goitre growing at the front of my neck (no-one else seems to see it, but it feels huge to me!) so I'm sure that something is not quite right. Keep going back to the G.P if you don't feel right, but I have to say although my weight is steady I have been slightly overweight for over 15 years despite the aerobics classes, swimming and running around after four children. Sometimes we just have to accept who we are! Best of luck, oh and by the way don't do any of the fad stuff, it will just make you feel worse!

So do I... I gained almost 40 lbs in less than 2 months!! When I started my medication I felt better, but it still took almost a year to loose it all. Now I have lost the extra weight and am back to normal. I did a TON of Yoga- this is a great workout that is not too hard and makes you feel good. Change your diet. Read about what you should and should not eat. Good luck.

Yes you are likely to be prone to putting on weight and have to be really careful what you do. But it is best to get your levels tested - I presume you are on Thyroxine. Sometimes you may be on too low a dose - some signs are severe tiredness and putting on weight. Your results might come back okay but sometimes they are borderline - so just tell the doctor if you have any symptoms that persist. If your levels are okay then it's just a case of being very strict and sticking to a diet plan - but it will probably be a slow process.

you need medical treatmeant, i dont think there is much you can do but wait for it to kick in, my partner has the oppisite and he has just had radioiodine treatment, he had been warned it could go the same way as what yours is, but to be honest he says he would rather that because he lost so much weight that he was very uncomfortable and the effects are sometimes worse with an over active one
