Skin coloration can be an indication of a lot of things, and without really seeing it, it may be hard to know what is really going on.

There are a couple of things I can think of. At 17 you maybe be suffering from acne which might be worsened by hormonal changes. Does your skin change according to your menstruation cycle? If it does, then it will resolve in due time. However, if it is acne, then a good cleansing with an oil free soap is what most people do, also you may want to do it three times a day.

If you are using any creams, stop and see if your condition improves. Also drink lots of water and take some vitamin C.

You may also be suffering from rosacea.

Either way, at some point if you do not see improvements, please see a dermatologist. This will boost your self confidence at the very least.

Good luck!

My brother is now 21, when he was 17 he started to have a very red-ish face too. The way he resolved this problem was to just grow a beard. I can't remember what it's called, but there is a medical term for that and I think it can be fixed :)

It might be rosacea. There are some good ayurvedic treatments for it. I would stay away from anything pharmaceutical, they're usually really expensive, and have lots of side effects!

Good luck, check it out with a dermatologist to have it diagnosed, then go somewhere else to get the cream!

at your age, complexion can change as fast as a wind in the plains. Give it time and patience.

At your age I battled acne it sucked to be called cyclops. Hormones stabilize with age and complexion does as well.

As far as confidence, you are confident when you act like it. In your case "Act your way to a new way of thinking"..

Maybe you are allergic to something. Laundry detergent a lot of times can do that. Try switching detergent and soap, even if it is what you have been using for years because you can become allergic to things.
