In theory they should get on quite well together. In practice however, things never go according to plan. "Pecking Orders" get established no matter how many birds you have. I have three cockatiels, and there is a very definate pattern to who gives way to who on the perch and who is allowed first dibs at the food bowl. Just because a budgie is smaller than a cockatiel doesn't necessarily mean it will automatically be lower down the pecking order and get bullied - often it is the other way round, and the budgie will become dominant - certainly you'd need a budgie who is prepared to stick up for itself. There is always a chance that it won't though, and that they will not get on together. Personally I would not like to risk it unless I had a large aviary where they would have enough space to stay apart if necessary, but there's no reason why they wouldn't get on together. Cockatiels are generally a social bird as are budgies, so yes, your chances would be good. I believe the really "evil" birds oddly enough are "lovebirds" which become nothing of the kind when placed with other species!

I wouldn't. Not that budgies are mean or anything, but they love to chase other birds. My budgie, Tweety, will get out of her cage and just chase my cockateils around the room. Its funny as heck, but they don't seem to like it. Anyways, don't think it would be a good idea to put them in the same cage, you could always try, but keep that second cage around just in case.
Don't listen to those crazys that are telling you cocketeils are evil. I agree with Daniel, Sara, and Mickey. As long as you let them get to know each other.

No! the cockatiels will form a pair bond and kill the budgie. Just keep them in seperate cages so they can see each other and this will be comany enough. If you let them out to fly about, put a teatowel on top of the cages because if one bird lands on a cage while the bird is still inside it will get its toes bitten off.

i used to have budgies and cockatiels i tried them all in an indoor avairy and the budgies ended up bullying the cockatiels.also if there is just 1 budgie and 2 cockatiels the saying is 2is company 3 is a crowd.you could just let them have a playtime together and see how they go on.

No, cause the Cockateils will Kill the Budgie . You have to be careful of what birds you place together in cages or it could end in disaster .

Hi,
the answer is yes, but first let them get acquainted. I have two cockatiels and two budgies. At first they would peck at each other then I decided to separate them and then day by day I would put them together, but then they became close to each other and now they play together and are in the same cage. Make sure the cage is big enough for all of them though.

try it out-see if they grow to like each other. but only put the cockatiels in the cage with the budgie while you were ther- in case they dont get along. but they might like each other-give it a try.
