interesting that you should ask. that's why I like this site. A seemingly simple question like yours has no definitive answer. What DOES eternity mean? Taken from our view of time being linear, if we burn in hell for all eternity, does that include the time before we were born? Does it include the time we spend on Earth? If it does, how can we be in hell and either don't exist yet or existing on two planes, both hell and earth?
Notice most of the answers? "Eternity starts when..." "eternity begins when..." How does eternity begin if it is eternal??????????????????????
Unless we consider time from the scientific point of view. Speaking about the time-space continuum, I would have absolutely no concept of eternity, do you?

Yes, there is eternal life after death. Whether you will go to heaven or to hell will depend on the life you live on this earth. We are born with a will and understanding. Where we get to be in the age of reason we are able to choose what we are going to be in this life.
So life is what you will make it and eternal happiness would all depend on the life that you lived. Believe in God!! That is the start!!!

No. According to the Bible, nothing begins when a person dies. According to the Bible, neither heaven or hell is an immediate experience after a person dies. See the Bible explanations about death and heaven....

Oh ! and by the way. The Bible does not teach an eternally burning place called hell. This false teaching has done more to scare and anger people away from God than just about any other false teaching.

Eternity just continues after you die. You are in eternity every moment of existance. Everything is eternal. A large and beautiful plan by GOD for all his children. What we do with it is a deciding factor on whether we will enjoy our journey.

I believe that eternity begins when a person and also what we do in the present determines where we will be for eternity.

Not if you believe in the Holy Bible! The son of God has to come back and then the eternity will begin!

There is no concept of time involved with eternity. Thus, no points in time - beginning, end, etc. It just is, forever and always and never at the same time.

In reality, yes. No matter how you cut the pie, they have entered into their eternity either with the Lord in a place prepared for them (John 14:1-6) or with Satan, in a placed prepared for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41). Nothing will ever change for them again. Their destiny is fixed with death.
Matt 25:41-42
"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
