Running from the Alter before saying "I DO"!

2006-11-29 06:55:23 · answer #1 · answered by cookie 1 · 0 0

I changed my beliefs on violence.

I used to think that violence was NEVER justified under any means. However, the more I thought about and appreciated history that I already knew (American Revolution, 1916 in Ireland), the more I began to appreciate that sometimes violence is necessary in an extreme conflict. I learned also that nationalism isn't always bad (revolutionaries, original Irish Republican Army), but when taken to extreme (taking over Iraq when it wasn't directly related to 9/11, IRA bombings in London, Nazis) it can be bad.

Homosexuality is a lie!
I used to struggle with this, believing the lie, hating myself, hating life. I didn't want to be that way.

"There is no spoon." I finally got revelation that it was all a lie and light was shed on every little thing that made me believe the lie. I now know the truth. I am free, I love life, I no longer hate myself.

I used to believe that as a Christian it was up to me to lead all ppl to the Lord and if I didnt, I was a failure. caused me much heartache over the years. BUt, upon deeper and further study, I see, it is up to us to tell ppl about God, but it is only His job to do the convicting. So we dont fail, they do, if they dont accept it. Even as Jesus preached here on earth, not all accept Him face to face, even after seeing Him perform miracles.
Realizing that it isnt my place to do any convicting, is such a freeing expereince. Now I can just joyfully share, and let the chips fall where they may. Knowing I dont HAVE To convict them is such a freeing experience. God is good, huh?

Mainstream religion. Once I didn't mind it so much. Now that I'm older, I see how damaging it can be with the "right" Extremists playing.

When I started questioning the very basis of why I believed.

That accepting something as truth, which had no compelling evidence, was something I should take for granted.

I used to think I knew it all (as a young Priest, right out of Seminary)

Now I realize just how little I know.

God will never be fully comprehended until we see him face-to-face.
