My fiance and I were just wondering if it would help our taxes to go ahead and get married before the end of the year.

We make under 80K a year together and we've already bought a house together.

You would be better off being married, your taxed at a lower tax rate. But...it depends on what each of your incomes are. Look at the tax tables for single for what you make and then what she makes and see how much tax they would take out...then compare it to the tax table for both of you under the married filing jointly column.

it is going to inprove your tax refund for 2 motives. you would be waiting to report a joint return, which provide you a tax benefit. And your EIC as a married couple would be $271 extra desirable than he'd get if he claimed head of kin and claimed your toddler.

depends on your incomes and other tax related items

Grab last years forms and see how that would have worked. Make any changes if needed this year for big changes in incoem or home purchase
