No because the expression is not meant to condemn god. It's GOD! Damn it..........

Not in the sense that it is usually claimed. This is one of the most often misinterpreted of the ten commandments. To take God's name in vain is to claim that you are his follower and behave in a way that dishonors him. For example, to claim to be a follower of God and then murder innocent people, or to claim to be a follower of God while having no compassion on 27,000 children who starve to death every day. It makes people who don't know think that's what God stands for, and it pisses him off.

Knowingly asking God to damn something is only a curse, which is also not "holy", that is, perfect and merciful, and so it is sin, but is not the meaning of "Do not take God's name in vain." It is sin in that it is using unforgiving language that does not promote peace.

Simpling saying "Goddammit" without the intent of asking God to actually damn something is just saying a word, like "ongopongo" - it doesn't mean anything. It's not a sin to say "ongopongo"

No, it's not a sin. Though I'm sure you're going to get a lot of yes' from the religious. But I don't see how it could be a sin... for all we know, you could be meaning Zeus damnit. *wink*

some people say yes. however if you take it to the actual context, your not saying D_mn G_d... your basically asking G_d to D_mn something, which is just cursing something. elisha cursed 42 children and the lord sent 2 bears to maul them. *shrug* technically its not any form of blasphemy,

u can find this verse 2 Kings 2:23-24

many call it blasphemy or using lords name in vain. but if you pray to him saying, "please lord curse so-n-so" its really no different

well actualy this is debaitable, since the word dam in eevreet( hebrew for those who don't believe in G-D'S command not to alter scripture) actualy translates to the word: blood, in english. and most people i know who cut their finger tend to say dam. cause it's going to bleed with dam. and the word adam is about one blood.

and what this world says is usualy a lie. as to what this world says is profane, is not necessarily the way G-D sees it. so i would put anything this world says is profane, in the realy iffy catagory. since most go to great lengths trying to avoid what is actualy true to G-D. and are too busy looking for somebody elses excuse for them religiously.

I say it all the time... It is a sin if you believe it is. I don't believe in one almighty god before all others. To me, he can rot in his hell for all the grief he's caused. Worship me before all others... WTF... I worship... but not him alone. I don't believe in hell either and I take responsibility for my actions.
