this is a term called 'coprophagia' basically meaning eating ones own feaces!!! yum yum.
some dogs are very prone to doing this and is not really something to encourage as feaces contains bacteria and all by products of the body etc
there is products on the market that you can give the animal by mouth and it contains an ingredient that will make the feaces taste even worse!! that they wont eat it.
on a cheaper note try feeding the dog pineapple if it will eat it. it also contains a natural ingredient that puts dogs off doing this.
give it ago i have seen good results!

Coprophagia (poop-eating) in dogs is believed to be caused from a nutritional deficiency.
What're you feeding her?
"Human" food from the table may not be the best diet for her, nutritionally-speaking.
I'd talk to your vet. Vitamins might be in order.

Commercial products can be placed on the dog's food that will impart a bitter taste to its feces. You can get them at Petco. Alternatively, lace feces left in the yard with jalepeno sauce. This is best done under cover of darkness, to prevent queries from neighbors.

It means the dog is lacking nutrition. It could be other things, but a lack of iorn even causes children to eat things they normally wouldn't eat or chew on things they normally wouldn't chew on.

Pick it up so it's not there for her to eat. Why is your dog skinny? Does she need more food? Have you taken her to a vet to make sure that she isn't sick?

dogs are very open they will eat any thing in their sight. so a way to stop the dog is to clean it up or call the dog in when done.

Yes, it's normal.

Prevention is the best way to stop this - pick up her stool as soon as she defecates.

If she is pooping inside and you are not there to pick it up, housetraining will solve the problem.
