Has anyone been granted a Unmarried Partner Visa and they have been with their partner less than 2 years but still got it?

You normally have to have been living with your partner for 2 years. If you are not living together or haven't been living together very long, there are other options. Are you planning on getting married, because he could always get a Fiance Visa and then you have to marry within 6 months. That's what I did, because although I had been with my partner for over a couple of years, we had only been living together for 6 months. Good luck : )

There is a partner visa, which is different to a marriage visa. Partner Visa are more difficult to get as the onus of proof of a relationship/partnership is far more difficult to collate for the consulate. There should be proof of shared expenditure at the residence of the partners.. i.e. Electricity bills, rent books etc in both peoples names... or a combination of bills in each others names over a period of time (often quoted as three years... but less time may be possible). As for the relationship, there needs to be proof again... letters, e-mails etc in hard copy format. The partners will need to show where and how they met, (even if it was on the Internet), which may need verifying. I am not aware of anyone getting a partner visa in less than two years.. but if you don't try.... you'll never know. BTW my wife is foreign and I lived and worked in Kiev with her... The Consulate were aware of our relationship (we drank at the same bar as the staff)... and even though we applied for a marriage visa... we had to fulfil all of the requirements... proof etc... so I know it is not easy (as some people think!) to get the right visa.

Yes, I did, it's called a fiance visa or K-1 visa. You need to get married with that one within 90 days of arrival though.

I would ask my landlord about amending the lease to reflect the date your partner actually moved in. I would speak to my university counselor about ways to navigate that system. If all else fails I would happily spend 2.5 months outside the country in order to fulfill my immigration obligations as the situation you describe is quite optimistic compared to the millions of others who would like to live in the UK.
