i dont believe they should have a bible class in school. the reason school exists is to ready a child for entering adulthood, job skills, life skills etc.
i went to a christian school from k-11th. our extra classes were, band, pe, and choir. bible class was forced. guess how many job skills i learned at that school.... whos going to hire someone who only has skill in pe, and choir and bible. lol.

Yes they should be seperate. I went to pariochal schools for 11yrs and they spent more time focused on religion and applying subjects such as math and English to religion (when there's nothing to apply in the first place) that it was a wonder anyone learned anything to get them into college or the real world. If anyone were to transfer to public school instead, at least from the ones I attended, they would be very behind and have serious catching up to do to meet their peers. The religion classes were mandatory. Even the parents who chose public school for their children were required by the church to enroll their kids in religion classes at the pariochal school during school hours or else they would be excommunicated.

I would like to answer this question with another question. Why is it that someone who comes up with a reason not to do something, that they, end up with more rights than the person who desires to do it. Our forfathers must be turning over in their graves. This land was founded on the principle in God We Trust. Now there are those who have made the decision that we no longer trust in Him,so the rest of us are now forced to live the way they want us to. Just take a good look at what has happened to the country we now live in and what you see has happened. Moral decay, greed, lost love for others, ect, ect, ect. Wow the justice department has really done a good job on changing things for the better haven't they. I say go back and look at what the foundling fathers wanted for us and fix the mess we have made of it.

School should be for learning. But - I get the impression that it is more about brainwashing and indoctrinating kids into the secular religion. True learning would give kids balanced information. To only give one side of the story is biased. If one theory, belief system is presented, all others should be given equal time. Only in a balanced presentation can true learning be achieved.

That's my opinion. If parents want children to have a religious education they should do it themselves or take them to church.
You don't see churches teaching math or reading during Sunday school.
And of course, a student can pray to him or herself whenever...

There should be no forced or corporate prayers in school.
But I learn in church and pray in school all the time!

I agree. The school has no place teaching faith or religion to it's students. That is the job of the students' parents.

Schooling was created revolving around church studies.... students learned to read by reading the Bible.

No praying in school, and no thinking in church. Just like there is no eating in the bathroom and no pooping in the cafeteria.
